TNA News: Country Singer Toby Keith Had Interest In Buying TNA Wrestling And Wanted To Bring Jim Ross On Board

We all know by now that TNA Wrestling has been going through some financial issues, which have allowed for the company to take on investors. This was thought to be a good thing for TNA. Investments would allow for the company to get back on track and maybe even have a new management team put in charge to hopefully save the company itself. However, there seems to be a lot of problems with the potential sale of TNA.

Various people were thought to have had interest in TNA, but many felt that there was a need to get majority stake and would not settle for anything less. Right now, the Harris Brothers seem to be the ones with the most interest in TNA and they are potentially the ones who will end up with a large chunk of it. They run a company called Aroluxe Marketing, which would be the parent company of the buy.

Both brothers do have some wrestling experience in their background with both appearing in WWE and WCW. Jeff Jarrett brought them on to TNA when the company was founded years ago, but they have not really been as prominent in the company since Jarrett left. TNA President Dixie Carter is hopeful that she can sell 49 percent of the company and maintain the 51 percent needed to remain in charge of everything.

However, a bombshell was dropped in regard to who also had an interest in buying TNA Wrestling. Former WWE announcer and talent relations master Jim Ross casually brought up on his recent blog post that a certain country singer was interested in purchasing TNA and wanted to bring him on board.

“More unsettling rumors rolling out of Nashville regarding the financial health of TNA Impact Wrestling. Apparently a new investor or buyer is at play for the struggling company. Without significant, live event revenue and a viable, PPV component in the revenue mix it will not be surprising to hear of any pro wrestling company being in financial peril. I hope that the eventual fate of TNA is much different than those within the company and others close to the matter are saying. Nonetheless, it is somewhat obvious that the next few months are going to be crucial in determining the future of the company.

“As I’ve said before, it may be best for the company to re-brand themselves and move on from the public perception that the brand currently has in the marketplace. New name..new philosophy..new approach to their presentation based on the talents that they have to work with on a regular basis.

“My Oklahoma friend Toby Keith had a legit interest in buying TNA in the past and he and I discussed my potential involvement of which I was interested working with Toby. He was ready to write a check but he had to have full control with no restrictions regarding creative, etc and that was not on the table.”

Those who know about the history of TNA know that Toby Keith happened to be on the first TNA wrestling show. He has had a connection to the company and Jeff Jarrett for years now. It made total sense to think that Toby would interested, but no one thought he would actually come close to buying. Jim Ross clearly knows his pro-wrestling and allowing him to have a full role in TNA might be worth the investment for those who might have a thought about putting money into TNA.

However, Dixie Carter does not want to let go of her control over TNA. To many, this is what the ultimate downfall of TNA will be caused by. Most of the TNA Originals have left, and even some of the former WWE stars are rumored to be leaving when their respective TNA contract comes up.

At the end of the day, selling to someone like Toby Keith would do wonders for TNA. He could connect them to CMT, which would serve as a much bigger audience for TNA. He would also bring on one of the greatest wrestling minds in the history of the business to help him run the thing properly. However, Carter’s obsession with having control allegedly stopped this potential deal in its tracks.

It seems like Dixie Carter doesn’t want to give up control because she is worried about what will happen to the company if she is not in charge. However, if she is the cause of the problems with TNA, she is only doing the company harm by remaining in control. Therefore her cause of worry is herself, and she has yet to see this. Deals like the one she is involved in now with Aroluxe may not come to pass without full control being removed, either, and if investors stop investing, TNA will be over.
