WWE Rumors: Updated And Rumored Card For ‘Payback’ — Three New Matches Confirmed, Bullet Club To Backup AJ Styles

Up until tonight, there were just two matches confirmed and set in place for WWE Payback, but there was a lot more made official tonight on Monday Night Raw. Three more matches, including a big title match, were set in stone during tonight’s show in London, but there may be an even bigger storyline going. AJ Styles could end up having former Bullet Club members in his corner for the WWE Title match which could spell doom for Roman Reigns.

As recapped by WWE, Shane McMahon started Monday Night Raw off in a big way by setting up some big matches in London and for Payback. Two expected matches were made official for the Pay-Per-View, and fans may find them more than enough reason to watch the show in early May.

First of all, fans are going to be thrilled to know that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are going to face off one-on-one on WWE television. The two longtime enemies and former NXT rivals will be taking on one another in what can only be called a dream match for many fans.

The second match confirmed by Shane McMahon on Raw will pit Dean Ambrose against Chris Jericho in a match that is long time coming. This was originally started back in September of last year at Night of Champions, but the feud ended up being abandoned until now.

Another title match confirmed on Monday Night Raw will have Charlotte defending her WWE Women’s Championship against Natalya as reported by Bleacher Report. In Charlotte’s corner will be her father, Ric Flair, but Natalya won’t be heading in unprepared and without some back-up as well.

It was announced on Raw that Natalya would have none other than Bret “Hit Man” Hart in her corner to counter the “Nature Boy.” It is huge to see Hart on WWE television again, and fans are going to love the legends being across the ring from one another.

One more thing of interest from Monday Night Raw is that Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, former members of the Bullet Club in NJPW, showed up to support AJ Styles. Not only did they meet him backstage and give him their backing, but they came out later to attack Roman Reigns and take him out.

Both Anderson and Gallows said they would be in Styles’ corner at Payback to back-up him and help him win the WWE Title. After beating up Reigns, Styles tried to say he had nothing to do with it, but this could end up leading to something much bigger in the long run.

So far, the official and confirmed card for Payback includes these matches:

  • WWE World Heavyweight Title: Roman Reigns (c) vs AJ Styles
  • WWE Women’s Title: Charlotte (c) with Ric Flair vs. Natalya with Bret Hart
  • Intercontinental Title: The Miz (c) vs. Cesaro
  • Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho
  • Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

Rumored matches for Payback include the following:

  • WWE Tag Team Titles: The New Day (c) vs. The Vaudevillains or Enzo Amore & Big Cass
  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin
  • The League of Nations vs. The Wyatt Family (????)

Obviously, the final rumored match depends a lot on what is going on with Bray Wyatt and his right calf injury. If he can’t go, then the Wyatts are one man short to face the League of Nations, and there’s really nothing that can be done to continue that feud.

As reported by Fansided a couple weeks ago, Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin is rumored to take place at Payback, and WWE keeps building toward that each week.

Monday Night Raw actually advanced a lot of storylines and Shane McMahon made the card for Payback look really good after tonight. There will be at least two or three more matches made official and confirmed so some of the rumors could come true, but matches such as Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens are making it all worth buying. Then again, so are rumors of the Bullet Club reuniting too.
