Arnold Schwarzenegger Trains ‘Mini Me’ Son Joseph Baena In Bodybuilding

World class superstar, politician, actor, bodybuilder, and all around larger-than-life personality Arnold Schwarzenegger has had his fair share of missteps and adventures throughout his 68 years, but it looks like one, in particular, is bearing some real fruit for the Austrian-turned-American ex-Mr. Universe. Photos of Arnold have recently surfaced featuring him training his love-child and look-alike son Joseph Baena. TMZ reports that the photos taken in L.A. show Arnold teaching his son the basics of getting big and lifting weights.

It’s been ages since a pic of Schwarzenegger and Baena together has been seen, but it looks like that wait is over. Joseph is now 18, and it looks like Arnie has decided it’s time to bring his son into the family business of being muscular.

Schwarzenegger took his son out on April 16 and treated him to an honor outside of most people’s reach: being trained by one of the most accomplished fitness professionals on the planet, not to mention actor extraordinaire and politician to boot. Arnold and his son were working out at Gold’s Gym, a local hotspot for bodybuilders in Venice, California, where Joseph went through the ropes with his dad. If the two needed any help bonding, this is probably one of the best ways to do it. However, seeing them work together at the gym, it looks like Arnold has taken his responsibilities as a father very seriously and dad and son seem to be getting along great.

Joseph certainly looks the part and is almost identical to his father in so many ways. The two share Arnold’s famous German good looks, and the huge frame and build that have become a hallmark of the Schwarzenegger name. Joseph could easily play the part of his dad during Arnold’s long-past days on Pumping Iron, an exciting prospect to be sure. Baena has been working on more than just his muscles and is completing a business major at Pepperdine University. He took time off from his studying schedule to work out with dad, and it looks like this isn’t the first time. Baena is already impressively built, but that might just be in the family. Big arms and big muscles, for sure, but it looks like Baena is taking a page out of his dad’s book and working on big brains too.

Baena and his father Arnold have had a pretty good relationship for sure, but things started out a little less happily. Baena is the son of Schwarzenegger’s former maid, Mildred Baena, and when Arnie was discovered as the father, it was a big scandal. Schwarzenegger lost his wife, Maria Shriver, in the process since she was understandably upset about the whole situation. The affair may have come to light in a messy way, but it’s clear that Arnold hasn’t let that taint the relationship he has with his son, whom he has clearly worked to have a good relationship with. Photos of the Arnold and son haven’t reached the public since Joseph was still a child, but it looks like things have really worked out.

Arnold is very open about his role in his son’s life and the relationship the father and son have with each other. Schwarzenegger has, according to Hollywood Life, described his family life as “fantastic” and made it clear that Joseph is a priority in the superstar’s life. Joseph has been described by his father as very “understanding” of the circumstances of his birth, and it’s hard not to trust that Arnold’s devotion to his son might have something to do with that. It’s an exciting prospect for fans of Arnold that Joseph might follow in his dad’s footsteps as an actor and bodybuilder, especially as Arnie gets older. It will be a sad day when the world is deprived of a Schwarzenegger superstar, but if things are as good at home as they seem, that day might be a lot farther away than it seems.
