‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Claims Jon Snow Will Not Return As Direwolf, Killing One Very Popular Season 6 Theory

Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) death has been the single most talked about aspect of the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. While theories about the character’s fate continue to surface, the wait is almost over before fans finally learn the truth. Luckily, fans can cross one theory off the list. In a recent appearance on Conan, John Bradley squashed the theory that Jon will return as a direwolf in Season 6.

The direwolf theory has been one of the more popular ones to date. Unfortunately, E! Online is reporting that Bradley, who plays Jon’s close friend Samwell Tarly, thoroughly debunked the theory during his interview with Conan O’Brien.

“So it is going to be the character, but he’s going to be in the body of a direwolf or something,” Bradley explained. “Which is a strange theory because what you’re really asking yourself there is, ‘Do they like the character of Jon Snow enough that they’re going to want to see it being played by a dog?'”

In a hilarious manner, Bradley went on to discuss the better qualities of his co-star and why a dog just wouldn’t do him justice. Although Bradley’s tone is humorous, his comments sounded genuine enough and should put to rest the rumors of a direwolf resurrection.

“I mean Kit Harington, I’m sure he won’t mind me saying this, he’s got a very marketable face. He’s a very, very good looking guy, carries a lot of sex appeal,” he stated. “I’m not sure a dog’s going to carry that sex appeal. And if he does, those people have got to ask themselves some serious questions.”

Meanwhile, along with his comments about Jon Snow, Bradley also unveiled a new clip during his interview. The video features brand new footage from the upcoming season. According to Vanity Fair, the video offers a few hints at what Samwell and his romantic interest Gilly (Hannah Murray) are up to following their departure from The Wall.

Based on the clip, Samwell and Gilly are making their way to Oldtown to get as far away as they can from the White Walkers. In fact, Samwell and Gilly are seen sailing on a ship, which doesn’t sit well with Samwell’s weak stomach.

Upon arriving at their destination, Samwell and Gilly meet up with his family. While they weren’t included in the clip, fans can expect to be properly introduced to Samwell’s father (James Faulkner) and brother (Freddie Stroma). Based on Samwell’s previous relationship with his father, their reunion is probably not going to go over well.

Given how the video focused on Samwell, it is apparent that he may have a much larger role to play in the new season. At this point, Game of Thrones has surpassed what has happened in George R.R. Martin’s books, leaving fans dying to know what is going to happen. Rumors are swirling that Samwell might even unlock a few secrets about the White Walkers. After all, his knowledge of books has served him well in the past, and the White Walkers are definitely going to create more issues if they aren’t dealt with soon.

At the same time, Harpers Bazaar is reporting that the new season recently premiered in Los Angeles. However, new spoilers have not been released because even the press has been shunned from seeing too much beforehand in case someone wanted to release spoilers.

Barring some one magically seeing new episodes and releasing major spoilers, fans will have to wait until Game of Thrones returns to discover the answer to Jon’s fate. With so many unknowns heading into Season 6, fans are definitely in for a lot of surprises, although Jon prancing around as a direwolf is apparently not going to be one of them.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones is set to premiere April 24 on HBO.
