Christina Aguilera Leaves ‘The Voice’ For New Show ‘Tracks’ & Possible Role On ‘American Idol’ Reboot?

Christina Aguilera will say goodbye, at least temporarily, after The Voice Season 10.

For the past several seasons, Christina Aguilera has been alternating roles as coach with fellow star Gwen Stefani. But for Season 11, the women will take a back seat as Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys take over, along with returning coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

In addition to having more time for her family, including her fiancé Matthew Rutler and her two children, Christina Aguilera will be working on her new show for Spike TV, Tracks. On March 15, the Hollywood Reporter shared details of the upcoming series, revealing two teams would be featured as they attempt to guess the name of a song while listening to individual tracks.

Tracks will debut sometime later this year as a half-hour special and is expected to include celebrity musical guests performing songs of their own and songs from other artists. Christina Aguilera and her fiancé are both listed as executive producers on the show.

At the time the show was announced, Christina Aguilera released a statement about her new project.

“Having finely tuned my ear for music over the years, I thought it would be fun to test other folks and see if they can identify a track — with a twist — since contestants will have to focus on a single component of a song,” Christina Aguilera said. “I’m excited to have Tracks debuting on Spike TV, and proud to have this as the first project springing from our first-look deal with Lionsgate.”

The host of the series, as well as the show’s episode count, have not yet been announced.

Christina Aguilera and Rutler began dating in late 2010 after she parted ways with ex-husband Jordan Bratman and became engaged on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2014. Months later, in August of that same year, Christina Aguilera gave birth to their daughter, Summer Rain. From her marriage to Bratman, Christina Aguilera is also mom to son Max, born January 2008.

Despite their engagement, Christina Aguilera and Rutler are in no rush to walk down the aisle, as she revealed in February 2015.

“Having just moved into a beautiful new home we call ‘the Sanctuary,’ having a baby, and now being excited to get back to work, I have my hands full and am not in a rush to set a date,” Christina Aguilera explained, according to an E! News report.

As for the rumors regarding a potential return of American Idol, which recently aired its alleged final season, a report recently claimed the show could come back with Christina Aguilera as a judge.

“It’s not that unlikely we could see another American Idol season, because the ratings this year are better than they’ve been in years,” an insider revealed to OK! Magazine on April 12. “Rumors around Fox studios is that there’s a huge surge of support to give the show another run. And with someone like [Christina Aguilera] on board, they would seriously consider a four-person panel this time.”

“With a resurgence of ‘think tank’ meetings going on at Fox, the decision to end the show could be reversed at the company’s upfront presentation in May,” the source added.

A short time later, Gossip Cop confirmed Christina Aguilera would not be participating in a possible reboot of the FOX series and shot down rumors claiming she may have been fired from The Voice.

Meanwhile on Twitter, Christina Aguilera has been campaigning for her team to finally win the currently airing season of The Voice.
