Blake Fielder-Civil Overdose: Old Text Messages From Amy Winehouse Haunted Him

Blake Fielder-Civil, ex-husband to deceased music icon Amy Winehouse, is in a medically induced coma and being kept alive by life support after a near fatal heroin overdose a few days ago. The overdose came less than a week after Fielder-Civil was released from prison.  Now the tragic reason for his overdose may be coming to light.

Fielder-Civil’s mother, Georgette revealed that while he was in prison he did not have access to his cell phone, according to Perez Hilton.  When he was released he turned on the phone to find new text messages from Winehouse asking him if she could stand as Godmother to his 15 month old son, Jack.

Georgette said,

“He had messages on his phone from Amy which he only got recently. He didn’t have the phone in prison and he picked up messages from her when he was released. She said she wanted to be Jack’s godmother. The grief for Amy started again. I fear he may have been trying to take his own life. If he pulls through it may be two months before he is discharged. The worrying thing is if he then goes back to his substance misuse. Next time he won’t make it, there is no doubt about that.”

Amy Winehouse died in July of 2011 of alcohol poisoning.  Her bodyguard had come to check on her and found her passed out in bed after a night of heavy drinking.  After returning a few hours later he found Winehouse in exactly the same position as when he had last left her.  He observed that she was not breathing and had no pulse.  She was rushed to the hospital by emergency services but they failed to revive her.
