Nicki Minaj Sex Scene: ‘I’m Not Allowed’

Nicki Minaj stars in Barbershop: The Next Cut, a comedy that came out this weekend, and she was recently asked if she will be participating in any sex scenes in the film. Her tweeted response was that she is “not allowed,” but many sources, such as Vibe, have been questioning what exactly she means by that.

Well, there are several possibilities.

One is that Nicki’s boyfriend, rapper Meek Mill, forbids Minaj to strip down for the camera. The problem with that theory is that it seems highly unlikely Minaj and Mill are very committed to each other at this point, if they are still together at all.

Rumors about a fragmentation of the Mill-Minaj coupling have been swirling around since Nicki failed to post any pictures or other notifications of any gifts from Mill on Valentine’s Day, and suspicions about Minaj and her (ex?) beau were all but confirmed by the seeming distaste for her relationship Nicki displayed during her recent appearance on Ellen and her subsequent cryptic Instagram post questioning love.

Even if Nicki and Meek are still together, though, Minaj does not seem like the kind of person who would be okay with her man telling her what she can and can’t do. The Vibe piece points out Nicki has developed quite the reputation as someone who does whatever she wants, regardless of what the public — or anyone else — may think or say. A big part of what makes Nicki Minaj the rebellious pop idol she has become is that it is basically unheard of for her to refuse to do something just because someone else told her she is not allowed — especially when the thing she is told not to do is something racy.

Another possibility is that Minaj does not allow herself to do sex scenes. This seems a bit more likely, as Nicki’s “don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do” mantra obviously doesn’t apply to promises she makes to herself. It still seems a bit weird, though, given that Nicki Minaj has not been one to shy away from sexual and publicly available images of herself in the past. True, Minaj has not yet been in a full-on sex tape, but she is not shy about showing off her famously large butt — and most of the rest of her body — on social media.

Either way, there are no Nicki Minaj sex scenes in Barbershop: The Next Cut. Maybe it is part of the new and more mature Nicki Minaj The Inquisitr previously speculated about, or maybe it is because it is too much for Minaj to bite off for what will be her one of her first noteworthy ventures onto the big screen.

Minaj has let the public know via tweets that she was initially hesitant to accept the big movie role that Barbershop: The Next Cut offered her, but she rethought her decision after reading the script.

Part of the reason she adored the script so much, Minaj revealed, is that it made her realize Barbershop: The Next Cut is not just your run-of-the-mill comedy movie. It is still very funny, Nicki has said repeatedly, but it also addresses more meaningful themes of self-motivation and community outreach.

This could be the beginning of a bold new frontier for Nicki Minaj — Hollywood! And only time will tell whether she will follow that “no sex scenes” rule, whoever laid it down.
