‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6: President Obama Privy To Advanced Screening of Every New Episode

Game of Thrones Season 6 airs on April 24. Apparently there’s one die-hard fan who might not have to wait until then to learn the fate of Jon Snow. That fan is President Barack Obama. Yep, it seems executive powers work in mysterious ways.

According to Entertainment Weekly, rumors of Obama’s request for an advanced screening of the entire Season 6 of Games of Thrones have been circulating for awhile. HBO execs Dan Weiss and David Benioff just put those nasty rumors to rest. Weiss explains it like this.

I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an ‘ah-ha’ moment. That was a very strange moment. When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advanced episodes,’ what are you gonna do?”

Obama’s love of Game of Thrones is no secret, especially to the show’s director David Nutter. Last summer, when attending the same event, Mr. President went so far as to ask Nutter if he killed Jon Snow. Nutter replied, “Jon Snow is deader than dead.”

In regard to giving Barack early access to Game of Thrones Season 6, in its entirety, HBO isn’t saying a word. If his wish is granted, Obama will be the only individual (outside of HBO) to get the episodes in advance. Due to maintaining the highest level of secrecy possible, early industry insider and journalist screening requests are always denied.

Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham recently admitted to Vulture readers the president does get advanced DVD episodes of the hit HBO series. However, he didn’t specify if this will include Season 6.

According to CNN, Barack Obama’s favorite Game of Thrones character is Tyrion Lannister, even though he usually can’t remember Lannister’s name. The president has no shame admitting he sometimes finds it difficult to keep everyone’s name straight.

Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, was in the news this past weekend when he spoke to a New York Times reporter in regard to the possibility of Donald Trump getting advanced copies of Game of Thrones episodes should he be elected president.

It seems the answer is a resounding no! No early screening privileges for “The Donald.” Why? Dan Weiss is not a big Trump fan. The Republican candidate reminds him of Hodor, “a giant dimwit who answers every question with one word: his name.”

As previously reported by Inquisitr, three new Game of Thrones clips were recently released, much to the relief of eagerly awaiting fans. This is in addition to a new trailer.

The airing of the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 6 is 10 (long) days away. It certainly doesn’t make the wait any easier knowing that the president may get special treatment, does it?

If President Obama’s request for advance screening privileges of Game of Thrones Season 6 is granted, do you think it’s fair to the millions of other fans out there? Should the status of “being president” include the perk of special treatment by HBO? Whether or not you’re a Game of Thrones fan, feel free to leave your comment below.
