<p><a title=" 9to5Mac Industry Intel Apple iOS Devices Enterprise Tips Apps Reviews 9to5 Forums Photos of purported next-gen iPhone’s thinner, higher capacity battery: 3.8V, 1440 mAh" href="http://9to5mac.com/2012/08/09/photos-of-purported-next-gen-iphones-higher-capacity-battery-3-8v-1440-mah/">9to5mac</a> has the first leaked images of iPhone 5&#8242;s battery, which you might notice is a bit larger than the last iPhone&#8217;s battery. This is to be expected, reports <a title="iPhone 5 Battery Images Leak: Only Slighter Larger Than iPhone 4S Battery, Despite Expected LTE" href="http://techcrunch.com/2012/08/10/iphone-5-battery-images-leak-only-slighter-larger-than-iphone-4s-battery-despite-expected-lte/">TechCrunch</a>, noting that it upgrades from a 1430mAh in the iPhone 4S (itself, up from 1420mAh in the iPhone 4) to a 1440 mAh battery. The battery will be thinner and will boast a higher capacity, which will help with the inclusion of LTE and Apple’s turn-by-turn mapping (itself an already huge battery drain, at least in iOS 6 beta).</p>
<p><a title="iPhone 5 release date: New rumor points to Apple iPhone 5 with better battery" href="http://www.examiner.com/article/iphone-5-release-date-new-rumor-points-to-apple-iphone-5-with-better-battery">The Examiner</a> also reports that the new battery&#8217;s voltage is rumored to have been increased from 3.7 up to 3.8 for the iPhone 5, leading to more watts-per-hour. The iPhone 5 is expected to have 5.45 wHr (the previous iPhone 4S had 5.3 wHr).</p>
<p>The new iPhone 5 is expected to be revealed, along with its newest mobile operating system iOS 6, on September 12th. Apple executives haven&#8217;t confirmed an official release date yet.</p>
<p>Until then, it seems that many users are holding off on their purchase of an iPhone device for now. This has encouraged Sprint to slash prices on the iPhone 4S in order to clear out their inventory ahead of the IPhone 5&#8242;s launch. According to <a title="Sprint Discounts iPhone 4S To Spur Sales Ahead Of iPhone 5 Launch" href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/greatspeculations/2012/08/10/sprint-discounts-iphone-4s-to-spur-sales-ahead-of-iphone-5-launch/">Forbes</a>, Sprint is offering an additional $50 discount on the current model of iPhone.</p>
<p>Are you excited for the new iPhone 5 and iOS 6?</p>
