Britney Spears To Play Pantomime Cinderella Turned Down By Kim Kardashian [Report]

According to reports, Britney Spears may be taking on a new role as the rags-to-riches princess, Cinderella.

The Mirror is reporting that Spears is currently close to signing on the dotted line to star as the princess in a British pantomime production of the iconic storybook tale at the end of the year.

According to the source who spoke out to the site, Spears has allegedly been offered upwards of $700,000 to take on the princess role in the upcoming U.K. production that could see Britney perform at the prestigious London Palladium for five weeks beginning on December 9.

The site is alleging that those behind-the-scenes of the upcoming show turned to Spears after both Kim Kardashian and Kylie Minogue turned down the deal earlier this year.

“Britney was one of a number of big name stars who were approached – you name a female star they were approached – but the others didn’t work out and they have opted for her,” The Mirror‘s source told the site, “she is a still huge name who is much-loved by British fans.”

The insider also revealed that despite the hefty price tag attached to Britney’s name, those working on the production think Spears will “be worth every penny” because of her huge star power and ability to attract a large audience. “She will definitely attract people to come along and see her… she will be worth every penny if she can attract sell-out audiences,” the source claimed.

“It also will help raise Britney’s profile in the U.K. again – and help boost sales of her music,” The Mirror‘s insider added.

The site also reported that the crew and looking to bring in some other big names to star alongside Spears in the production, who will be on hand to take the pressure of Britney should she chose to tread the boards in the December show.

“Britney will feature and maybe sing a song or two – but the rest of the cast will carry the burden,” the source claimed, noting that “there will be some big name co-stars” also appearing in the pantomime.

Describing the upcoming show as a “spectacular production,” The Mirror‘s source admitted that Britney has yet to sign the final agreement but noted that those close to the event are “confident and hopeful” that the deal will be done in the coming weeks meaning an official announcement will be made “very shortly.”

But while Britney’s team have yet to confirm reports that Spears will be transforming into Cinderella this December, reports that Spears may be looking to leave the Las Vegas stage, where she’s currently performing her residency show Britney: Piece of Me, come just weeks after the popstar hinted that she may be looking to head back out on the road for a new tour.

Spears, who hasn’t performed in the U.K. since her 2011 Femme Fatale tour, recently teased in a new interview with the Las Vegas Sun that she was “hoping” she’d be touring outside the U.S. when her as-yet-untitled ninth studio album hits shelves later this year, despite her residency being extended into 2017 last year.

“I hope we can do some touring! It’ll be fun to see my fans from overseas who haven’t been able to make it out to Las Vegas,” Spears said earlier this year.

Britney also dropped hints that she was looking to tour the world once again back in September when a Twitter fan quizzed her on the possibility of Spears taking her uber-popular Las Vegas stage show international.

After a fan tweeted Spears “Will there ever be another world tour in the future?” Britney coyly replied on the social media site, “Who doesn’t love to travel?” alongside a smiley face.
