Ruby Rose Beautifully Honored By Taylor Swift At GLAAD Media Awards

Ruby Rose was honored by Taylor Swift at the GLAAD Media Awards last Saturday, according to Entertainment Weekly. The “Shake It Off” singer awarded Rose with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, which is given to an LGBT media expert who has made efforts in promoting equality.

Swift took the stage at the GLAAD Media Awards and gave a brief, accurate description of Ruby Rose, saying she is an actress, model and an “incredible” DJ. Swift also added that in 2014, Rose wrote, produced, and starred in the short movie titled Break Free, which came as a tribute to gender non-conforming people.

“She breaks down barriers and opens up opportunities for all people, but most importantly LGBT people all over the world.”

After the GLAAD Media Awards ceremony, Ruby Rose took to Instagram to thank Swift for the kind words on stage. The 30-year-old model also thanked her fans and the ceremony’s audience, adding that she felt truly “blessed and humbled.” Rose also revealed that she was going to cry while holding her pillow like a teddy because she felt as if it was all a dream.

Swift then posted a photo via her Instagram account, on which she and Ruby Rose are seen kissing singer Troye Sivan.

Ruby Rose has recently shared her thoughts via her Twitter account, as the model marked the third anniversary since she had been hospitalized for her struggle with depression, according to the Daily Mail.

Earlier this month, Ruby Rose shared her 3-year-old tweet, in which she had stated that “despite everything I have tried in the short time I was given I am still losing my battle with depression.” The tweet came shortly before the Orange Is The New Black star was hospitalized.

“That post was from when I abruptly left Australia and took six months off to focus on my health and self love. We all deserve to be happy.”

Ruby Rose then went on to send her best wishes to everyone who felt depressed, alone and not worthy. She assured her Twitter followers that “we all deserve to be here,” adding that “you are worthy.”

Ruby Rose then took to her Instagram account to reveal it was rather a painful experience to be reminded of the time she had been hospitalized 3 years ago. She then revealed how she felt like when she had “hit a rock bottom” at that time.

According to Ruby Rose, at the time of abruptly leaving Australia and canceling a number of shows and commitments, the Orange Is The New Black star struggled to find happiness anywhere except near her dog. But, even her dog turned out to be not enough. Rose even thought she had failed at being a human being and an adult.

“I didn’t know what to do so I left for America to work with trauma therapists and I spent pretty much all the money I had made in my life on an overpriced rehab and a lot of therapy (there are definitely other ways to do it).”

Ruby Rose also added that although she didn’t want to “ramble on,” she opted to share her thoughts because she chose to fight and “I thought it meant I’d be able to live.” But the model added she had no idea it meant she could be able to live her dream, just as she had no idea she would get this “extraordinary life” as a result of her fight.

“It just makes me wonder how many others are days, hours, seconds away from realizing their worth… Their potential… And once the dark cloud is lifted will be truly happy and free.”
