New ‘Call of Duty’ By Infinity Ward This Year Is Making Some Gamers Nervous

Master Herald is saying that one of Call of Duty‘s games this year will be developed by Infinity Ward and points out that there are some teaser trailers available, but that they do not provide much insight into what the game will be.

The same source also goes into the background of Call of Duty‘s history with the game developer, suggesting that their last effort with Ghosts did not get a good response from fans of the series due to issues with the formula, some design and story.

During the time that Call Of Duty: Ghosts came out, the sales were apparently lower than the previous release; rather, Activision did not immediately make back its 1 billion from retailers, which they blamed on the transition to a next generation console according to GamesRadar.

Despite the view from Master Herald, Infinity Ward has not had a problem with the sales of the bulk of their Call Of Duty titles, but they do have a shaky history with Activision, who owns the COD rights.

But Games.com goes further with more information on the expectations and the ideas for a backwards compatible bundle. It also refers to the same problems the studio faced over the years, which Activision ended up purchasing the rest of after a large number of designers were sent packing.

Apparently, not much is known about some of those last meetings and many involved in the initial cut have never said anything about it. The assumption is that they might not be allowed to do so.

And regardless of the setback period for the game design company, critics have responded well (overall) to the finished products in the past, giving high marks for game engine performance and innovative designs that have allowed the series to continue. According to Gaming Bolt, they might just do it again.

The article points to a job listing on Activision’s site for someone who can create explosions, and Gaming Bolt is making the connection — given everything the companies have hinted at about the new games — that there will be explosions in space.

Early in the week, Treyarch’s director of communications John Rafacz posted a video on the company’s YouTube channel, to talk about the new Call of Duty DLC releases for April 19.

As of Friday and until Monday morning, there is a Call of Duty: Black OPS 3 Double XP weekend for Cryptokeys and a Liquid Divinium event, which is the currency used in the game.

PlayStation LifeStyle explains the details of the event, and how players are able to obtain the various currencies.

Also during the week, Call of Duty designers have also released footage of the Verge map, which will be in the downloadable content, but E-commerce Journal also talks about how the DLC will first be made available for PlayStation consoles before the others get them.

Attack of the Fanboy is also one of the many sources reporting that someone on Reddit has posted an image of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as an option for Microsoft’s online store with suggestions that it might be backwards compatible with the Xbox One.

The image reportedly disappeared, which suggests it was either a glitch or that it will be available soon.

The Inquisitr goes into more details about the leak in another report, but it should be noted that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the titles developed by Infinity Ward.

Activision officially has Call of Duty on their list of new releases for the end of the year, in time for this year’s E3, in their frequent budget report.
