The NFL preseason is a time for roster adjustments, trying out new schemes, and watching backup players get plenty of playing time, but, as week one of the preseason is set to kick off, there are more questions than ever.

The 2012 NFL season will some some of the biggest changes in decades, with a Hall of Fame quarterback starting for a different team for the first time in his career and a number of rookie and second-year quarterbacks looking to make their mark.

The NFL preseason will be a chance for fans to watch some well-known players in new settings, the Associated Press pointed out. Peyton Manning left the Indianapolis Colts to join the Denver Broncos, leading the way for highly anticipated rookie Andrew Luck. Fans will be eager to see if Luck can fill the shoes of the certain Hall of Famer as well as if Robert Griffin III has what it takes to lead the Washington Redskins back to the playoffs.

Tim Tebow will also start the season with a new team, joining the New York Jets after Manning snagged his starting job in Denver. Chad Johnson, the player formerly known as Ochocinco, is back for another season as is Terrell Owens.

Seven teams have new coaches and the New Orleans Saints will be without Sean Payton, who was banished from the 2012 season by Commissioner Roger Goodell for his role in the bounty program. Fans will also be looking to the NFL preseason to see how the Saints respond to the sanctions that Goodell imposed.

There is another change in the NFL preseason, but only the sharpest of fans may notice. The normal slate of officials is gone as they are in a lockout with the league instead using replacement officials. Another reason fans may not know about it — the NFL has asked teams not to talk about replacement officials, CBS reported.
