Keith Urban Reveals Carrie Underwood Duet Details, Announces Joint Tour

Keith Urban is revealing new details about his upcoming duet with Carrie Underwood and revealing that the two will be heading out on tour together.

Urban got candid about his and Underwood’s upcoming song in a new interview with Rolling Stone, where he revealed that he “can’t wait” for fans to hear their upcoming collaboration.

“I’ve always loved singing with her,” Keith recently said of Carrie, revealing that the track the two team-up for, titled “The Fighter,” will be featured on Urban’s new album, Ripcord.

“We had written this song that needed a female voice and Carrie’s voice immediately came to mind,” Urban said, “I can’t wait for people to hear it — and hope that we get to do it live.”

Keith previously revealed that he and Carrie Underwood are putting their voice together for the very first time in the studio in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, where he casually broke the news about the duet after confessing that he also teamed up with rapper Pitbull for the new record.

“I got Pitbull, and Carrie’s on the record — Carrie Underwood’s on there, as well,” Keith said.

But while we’ll have to wait until Keith’s new album hit shelves on May 13 to hear “The Fighter,” Urban and Underwood gave fans a sneak peek at what happens when they join forces for a stellar performance on the American Idol grand finale on April 7.

Carrie, who won the series back in 2005, paired up with the American Idol judge for a surprise cover of Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty’s “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” on the final ever episode of the singing show this week, where the two garnered high praise from fans for their high energy performance.

“Carrie and Keith were the only performers who didn’t look or sound like professional karaoke singers #IdolFinale,” Twitter user @liveasong4 wrote of the performance on the 140-character site, while @ny4carrie tweeted, “OMG [Carrie Underwood] is singing with [Keith Urban]! they are ROCKING IT! Love this! Carrie and Keith look hot! #IdolFinale @AmericanIdol”

But it’s not just on their new duet and the American Idol stage where Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood are joining forces.

Prior to their show-stopping goodbye to the Fox show, Urban announced that he and Underwood will actually be hitting the road together in December 2016 as Carrie is set to join the “A Little Bit of Everything” singer when his Ripcord world tour plays a string of shows in Australia at the end of the year.

Yahoo Australia broke the big tour news ahead of Carrie and Keith’s American Idol performance on April 7, where it was revealed that the two country stars will be playing a number of shows in big cities around Australia.

The news that Carrie and Keith will be heading down under together comes almost 10 years after Underwood and the American Idol judge originally hit the stage together when they headed out on the Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride tour together way back in 2008.

The tour played a number of shows around the U.S. in 2008 and was actually the first time the two country superstars performed “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” together.

“I’m looking forward to hitting the road with Carrie, and to bringing our audiences together for what I think will be a magical night of sights, sounds, songs and solos,” Urban said in a statement at the time, while Carrie also had nothing but high praise for Keith almost a decade ago.

“I can’t think of a better person to begin 2008 with than Keith,” Underwood said, “He is an amazing entertainer and a well-respected musician, singer and songwriter.”
