Kardashian Will ‘Go Out With A Bang’ After ‘Kocktails With Khloe’ Canceled

Rumors about a Kocktails with Khloe cancellation have been swirling for days, and today FYI made the official announcement: Khloe Kardashian and the television network have decided to part ways.

If not for the rumors, the cancellation may have come as a bit of a surprise. After all, Kocktails with Khloe initially premiered on January 20 with very high ratings — the highest ever for a show on FYI.

The official statement from FYI thanked Khloe for her time on the show, saying that they appreciated her “hard work and unique voice.”

“FYI and Pilgrim Media Group appreciate everyone’s great work on the series and are pleased that the show brought new viewers and significant numbers to FYI’s linear and digital platforms. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Khloé and thank her for her hard work and unique voice that she brought to the series.”

While the network’s official statement was positive, TMZ reported that the story behind the scenes was a bit different. According to a source for the celebrity news outlet, “both sides were unhappy” with the business arrangement.

“Khloe wanted to focus on her ‘other jobs’ and had no interest in shooting the next season. Network execs could tell she’d ‘checked out’ and weren’t happy about it.”

The talk show was initially contracted for eight episodes and FYI contracted the show for an additional 15 episodes, bringing the total number of episodes to 23. However, only 14 hour-long episodes have been produced.

Nevertheless, Kardashian took to Twitter on Wednesday to thank the network and assure her fans that she would be back in other business capacities.

Kocktails with Khloe featured a unique format, in which Khloe invited friends, family members, and A-list celebrities into her “kitchen.” Celebrity chef Sharone Hackman would prepare a meal and Khloe typically shared a cocktail with her guests, all while delving into some deep, and oftentimes surprisingly intimate, topics. It was common for Khloe to be extremely open when discussing topics, and fans learned a lot of intimate information about Kardashian throughout the season.

A few shows have been taped but have not yet aired. The final episode, which is said to feature appearances by Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Chrissy Teigen, and John Legend, is scheduled to air on April 20.

Ditching Kocktails with Khloe frees up some time for Kardashian, who has been hired to host a makeover show for E!. The show, called Revenge Body With Khloe Kardashian, was announced in December. According to reports, each episode of the reality TV show will follow Kardashian as she puts together a team of trainers, stylists and “glam squads” to help two people bounce back from heartbreak. So far, E! has ordered six episodes of the show.

And, of course, Khloe is still a regular cast member on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and she recently published her book, Strong Looks Better Naked. And, with the ongoing recovery of her estranged husband, Lamar Odom, Khloe Kardashian certainly has a lot to keep her busy.
