Miesha Tate Gets A Multi-Fight Deal With UFC After Defeating Holm

Miesha Tate has now signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC following her uproarious win over Holly Holm, and now fans are champing at the bit to find out whether she’ll go up against Ronda Rousey next.

Tate said previously that, as much as she wants a rematch against Rousey, she isn’t sure she wants to wait until Rousey is ready to get back in the cage in order to fight her next match. Rousey hasn’t revealed when she’ll be able to come back following her brutal defeat by Holly Holm last November, and is said to be taking a bit of a break to focus on her film career, although she proved to fans recently via video that she’s healing nicely. In a clip shared to social media, Rousey heartily bit into an apple, something she’d said previously that she wouldn’t be able to do for months due to the injuries she sustained when Holm kicked her in the face.

Miesha Tate hasn’t said when her next fight will be — or, more importantly, who it will be against — but after her recent winning streak all eyes are on her. Not only did she defeat Holm — who quickly rose to fame after taking away Rousey’s undefeated record — she has a past with Rousey. The duo have already fought twice before, and Miesha has not been shy about her desire to get another shot at her. UFC President Dana White said earlier this year that he believes a rematch will happen next.

“I think that Ronda now will fight Miesha Tate for the title. That’s what’s going to happen. That’s what I said before this fight even happened, whoever wins tonight will fight Ronda for the title,” White said.

Following Miesha Tate’s defeat of Holly Holm, White said that he “feels bad” for Holly because he was sure her career would take off after she beat Ronda Rousey. Now, it’s unclear where Holly will go, although she’s reportedly in the gym training.

“I feel bad for Holly. I don’t know if Holly really knows what she lost … Holly made a lot of money. She accomplished great things, she beat Ronda Rousey. But it could have been so much bigger for her, and the sad part is, I don’t think she even knows it.”

As for Miesha, she’s been on a whirlwind promotional tour after winning the title, but took some time out to publicly thank her beau on Instagram, posting a lengthy message about her gratitude for his support as she chases her dreams. Fans immediately took notice; the post has over 21,000 likes and nearly 500 comments.

“They say behind every strong man is a strong woman,” Tate wrote. “In turn, behind every strong woman there is an even stronger man. For in this day it is expected that man will [pursue] his dreams and the woman will support him. It is beyond the understanding of many that a woman dare to pursue her dream and the man support her equally in her endeavors.”

While fans are waiting to see what will play out between the three women, they can take a look at an upcoming film starring Holm and Tate called Fight Valley, the trailer for which is already getting mixed reactions.

The official synopsis is as follows.

“When Tory Coro is found dead in the streets of Fight Valley her sister Windsor (Susie Celek) moves to the town to begin her own investigation. There she meets Jabs (Tate), the most feared and respected ex-fighter around. Windsor realizes to survive in the town she will have to fight. Under the training of Jabs, Windsor is determined to come face-to-face with Tory’s killer and fight for justice.”

The film will premiere in theaters and on VOD in July.
