XBox 360 Marathon Lands Boy In Hospital After 4 Straight Days Of Non-Stop Gaming

Playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for 4-straight days on his Xbox 360 landed an Ohio teenager in the hosppital.

According to the 15-year-old boys parents he stayed in his bedroom for four days, playing the first-person shooter non-stop until he eventually collapsed from exhaustion on Tuesday morning.

The boy was rushed to the hospital where WCMH-TV says he was treated for “severe dehydration.”

Jessie Rawlins, the gamers mother says his lips “became a disturbing blue color” while adding:

“I was very scared. I thought he was going to die. He just fell over three times.”

While her son is busy recovering he won’t have a video game console to relax with when he returns home, his mom got rid of the Xbox 360 immediately following the hospitalization.

The teenager is not alone in his severe gaming addition, the American Psychiatric Association on several occasions has discussed the possibility of adding gaming to its list of addictions.

This latest gaming marathon addiction could have ended far worse, in 2009 an Ohio teenager killed his mom and shot his dad after they refused to allow him to play Halo 3.

In an overseas event earlier this year a Taiwanese teenager collapsed and died after playing Diablo III for 40 hours straight.

In many cases gamers don’t eat, drink water or even go to the bathroom during their marathon gaming sessions, all of which can lead to health problems and even death.
