Melissa McCarthy slayed in Lip Sync Battle performance at the Tonight Show.

Melissa McCarthy Just Slayed In Her ‘Lip Sync Battle’ Performance On The ‘Tonight Show’

Melissa McCarthy just destroyed Jimmy Fallon in an epic Lip Sync Battle at the Tonight Show on April 4, reports People. In fact, Melissa’s performance was so amazing that the audience gave her a standing ovation after it was all over, and rightfully so.

Before they went head to head in the latest episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s popular Lip Sync Battle segment, the mother of two talked a bit of smack by saying she’s”pretty freaked out about crushing” the host. McCarthy added she felt like she was about to have a heart attack over what they were about to do.

“I don’t get nervous a lot, I’m pretty freaked out about crushing you,” McCarthy, 45, told Jimmy Fallon before hitting the stage.

And if there’s anyone in the comedy business who can walk the walk, it is Melissa McCarthy. If the Ghostbusters actress had any jitters, it sure didn’t show when she went on stage and blew everyone away.

Jimmy started the ball rolling by performing Melanie’s 1971 song “Brand New Key,” making the audience laugh by pretending to put on a pair of roller skates during the performance. Melissa looked rather impressed, but you can tell by the look in her eyes that she’s got something up her sleeve that could slay Jimmy. And slay she did, as Melissa put on a pair of trainers and a baseball cap before jumping on stage to perform DMX’s “Gonna Give It To Ya.” Melissa’s unique take on the DMX classic absolutely wowed the audience, including Jimmy Fallon himself. It was clear to everyone at the Tonight Show who won that round.

Of course, Jimmy had another opportunity to get even with McCarthy in the second round. For his second lip sync performance, the Tonight Show host performed Zayn Malik’s “Pillow Talk,” using an actual pillow for a prop. The crowd’s response to the performance was lukewarm, however, and you can tell by the atmosphere inside the room that everyone’s expecting Melissa to deliver the final nail in the coffin.

Melissa sure didn’t disappoint, as she went beyond the audience’s expectations. And what better way to do it than by closing the Lip Sync Battle with a song from the Pocahontas soundtrack. The comedian sure didn’t pull back any punches, as she put on a pair of clear goggles before taking the stage once again to perform Alan Menken’s “Colors of the Wind.”

“I’m obviously going to close with a song from the Pocahontas soundtrack, this is ‘Colors Of The Wind,'” Melissa emphatically announced, before a backdrop filled with nature scenes appeared. There were rain machines, flowers, drops of water, and animals, and glitter flew around her as she went all out in her performance. The number had the entire audience laughing all the way through.

With the winner already decided even before the dust had settled, the audience gave Melissa McCarthy a standing ovation. Jimmy McFallon, clearly impressed, declared McCarthy the winner.

Before Tuesday’s episode of Tonight Show aired, Jimmy Fallon hinted on Twitter that Melissa McCarthy’s participation in the Lip Sync Battle is something that fans shouldn’t miss.

“@melissamccarthy was MASTERFUL tonight with her lip sync battle. Just hilarious. #FallonTonight,” Fallon tweeted.

McCarthy posted a teaser clip via her Instagram account, showing herself covered in glitter and wearing a pair of shades. “Surprise on @fallontonight Jimmy & I get Krazzzzy,” she captioned.
