Is ‘American Idol’ Not Really Ending? Creator Simon Fuller Says It Will Be Back

The time has come, and American Idol is almost over after 15 seasons. Now it turns out that the show might not be really over, according to creator Simon Fuller. The Hollywood Reporter shared what Simon had to say about American Idol returning once again. He came up with the idea for American Idol back in 2002, and they have had a huge success. Several huge singers have come from this show, including Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, and many more.

Simon Fuller isn’t quite ready to be done with American Idol even though the show is ending this season. He revealed that it will be coming back in some way, though.

Here is what Simon had to say.

“There will no doubt be another format or refinement or elevation of the format. Now I can actually revamp it and come up with a new version. And we can look back on 15 seasons and think of some legitimate ways to allow people to enjoy them again, maybe adding another dimension to it.”

It looks like the show American Idol is over, but Simon isn’t going to just let it die. He will find a way to bring Idol back as another show. Of course, he hasn’t figured out all of the details yet, but it seems like you can expect a singing competition that is a bit different than American Idol is now. The Voice has a different way of doing things, but, of course, that format has already been taken.

Simon Fuller knows that American Idol has worked, so they have never really changed it up. Now that the show is over, Fuller can start with a clean sheet of paper and do something different. Right now, Fuller is in deep thought about how to evolve American Idol into something different. Times have changed over the last 15 years since he started the show.

Fuller is making sure everyone knows that the show will be back, though, as he said, “The next generation of Idol — and Idol will certainly be coming back for sure — will have a youthful glow and it will be pioneering again, just as it was when we first began.”

When it comes to what Simon Fuller thinks of as personal highlights of the show, he shared that finding Carrie Underwood is a big one. He went on to mention Chris Daughtry being discovered as well as that first season with Justin and Kelly.

Fuller said, “Kelly and Carrie represent the purity of Idol… the perfect American dream.”

One of his favorite performances ever is when Adam Lambert performed “Mad World.”

Fox News shared that one American Idol star is speaking out about how the show helped his career and thanking the show for it. Chris Daughtry now has his group Daughtry, but he also got the chance to star in the live musical The Passion. Chris said he is pretty sure he wouldn’t be talking to reporters now if he hadn’t done the show. Daughtry also shared that he is supporting Dalton Rapattoni this season on American Idol. Chris will be back to perform on the finale along with Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, and more big-name artists.
