Chris Brown Gives Impressive Performance At iHeart Radio Awards, Wins R&B Artist Of The Year

Chris Brown made a surprising win at Sunday’s iHeartRadio Music Awards as R&B Artist of the year. He won one of the first two awards of the night, along with Taylor Swift, who won Female Artist of the Year.

In his acceptance speech, the “Something New” collaborator had nothing but appreciation for his solid group of fans. He went on to thank them all for being there for him and for their continued support, especially during what he called “all the worst times of my life.”

The singer may have been referring to a legal problem that has long hounded him, which were the charges filed against him back in 2009 for beating his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. The scandal that happened several years ago has somehow failed to escape the minds of many people to this day.

Brown admitted to his frequent lack of self-restraint.

“I tend to not have a filter sometimes, and I go off on a lot of people. But the music stays the same.”

The controversial artist walked the red carpet wearing an all-white ensemble. Later on during the night, he changed his whole look with a camo jacket. Chris Brown showed the audience that he’s still got it through a medley of sizzling hot performances onstage.

The R&B heartthrob started off with a slow and easy version of his song “Liquor.” His performance for the song showed off the great voice that made him one of the top R&B vocalists of his time. Later on during the performance, he got down and dirty as he grinded to “Back To Sleep” on center stage.

It was also during his performance at the awards show that Chris Brown showed the world what he is really known for. He got down with a group of equally amazing dancers to the songs “Wrist” and “Anyway.”

Chris Brown Performs a Medley of His Recent Hits

Brown completed an impressive performance to four songs from his recently released album, Royalty. His new album is named after his daughter, whom he recently gifted with a $1.5 Million dollar puppy.

In a recent interview, the proud dad was quoted as saying that “Watching Royalty laugh, watching her walk, listening to her trying to speak words brings him to tears.” The new iHeartRadio R&B Artist of the Year admits to loving his role as a father, along with all the responsibilities that come with it. He even goes on to say that there’s nothing more he would love but for his beautiful daughter to have a baby brother soon.

It seems like his newfound role as a parent has had a positive effect on his music, judging by the way people are talking about Chris Brown’s iHeartRadio performance.

The third iHeartRadio Music Awards broadcasted live from the Forum in Inglewood, California. The annual event was hosted this year by R&B singer Jason Derulo.

Other performers who took the stage were Justin Bieber, who debuted his new dreadlocks as he sang a medley of his hit songs “Love Yourself” and “Company.” Meghan Trainor also debuted her new single, “No.” There were also featured performances from Fetty Wap, Demi Lovato, and Iggy Azalea. U2 was also honored during the show.

With this new award under his belt, Chris Brown is ready to tell the world that he’s got his musical game back. Aside from his new album and newly released songs, the singer has a concert tour to look forward to.

The R&B artist’s “One Hell of a Nite” European concert tour will kick off on May 22, starting in Frankfurt, Germany.
