Boston, MA (AHN) – A new survey found six in 10 Americans think it is very likely there will be a widespread Swine Flu this fall or winter with many people becoming sick.

The Harvard Opinion Research Program at the Harvard School of Public Health conducted the national poll of 1,823 adults age 18 and over from June 22 to 28.

“These results suggest Americans are likely to support public health officials in prioritizing preparations for the possibility of a serious H1N1 outbreak in the fall or winter,” Robert J. Blendon, Professor of Health Policy and Political Analysis at the Harvard School of Public Health, said in a statement.

However, despite the majority of those surveyed expecting a serous outbreak of the H1N1 virus, they are not overly concerned about their personal safety. Some 61 percent of participants told surveyors that they were not concerned about getting sick or having a family member contract swine flu.
