Little Big Shots: Meet Minnesota’s Adorable Child Mayor, Can You Believe James Tufts Is Only 3-Years-Old?

Tonight, Little Big Shots introduced Minnesota’s child mayor, James Tufts, to the world. The adorable 3-year-old mayor had no trouble expressing his views when debating with show host Steve Harvey. By the looks of things, there may be a political campaign or two in James’s future. At the rate he’s going, he might even be President one day.

The mini mayor also had no problem telling the Little Big Shots audience not to interrupt him when he was talking to Steve Harvey. When Harvey asked the young man what his mayoral duties consist of, the freckled-face cutie replied “eating ice cream and shaking hands.” He respectfully referred to Steve as “Mr. Harvey” throughout the interview. Needless to say, the show host was very impressed.

According to People, little James isn’t the only “mayor” in the family. His 6-year-old brother, Robert, is twice his predecessor. In fact, Robert has the distinction of being dubbed “America’s Cutest Former Mayor.”

James Tufts and his big brother live in Dorset, Minnesota. The small (unincorporated) town is home to a whopping 25 permanent residents. When election time rolls around, hopeful candidates pay $1 to have their names added to a jar. Who knew running for mayor could be that easy!

As you might or might not guess, the town’s current mayor draws the name of the following year’s newly-elected official. James Tufts was “sworn into office” in August 2015. On the day he was elected, he was two days younger than his brother, Robert, the first time he won the election.

Robert explains he helped his brother James campaign because his mother told him to. His best advice to anyone running for office, be it his brother or anyone else, is the following.

“To not talk poopy to people. To be nice.”

Now if only some other candidates and elected officials would heed this advice.

As previously reported by Inquisitr, Little Big Shots is one of this season’s biggest hits. If you haven’t yet watched it, you really don’t know what you’re missing. Many people feel it’s Steve Harvey who’s responsible for much of the show’s success. Here’s why.

Harvey has a great rapport with kids of all ages. That fact is evident, even if you only watch a few minutes of Little Big Shots, a show he co-produces with Ellen DeGeneres and two others.

NBC’s Little Bit Shots is constantly on the lookout for new talent. Rest assured, your child doesn’t have to be a three-year-old mayor, like James Tufts, to be considered.

Many of the kids are contacted after their videos go viral. Others apply on the network’s website, simply by registering and submitting two separate videos. One video serves as an introduction video and the other is an “audition” of sorts, showcasing the talent of the child in question.

One of the most appealing things about Little Bit Shots is the fact it’s not competition based, and there is no one winner. In the eyes of the show, everyone wins!

Did you get a chance to watch tonight’s episode of Little Big Shots? If so, what did you think about the Tufts brothers, James and Robert? Don’t they make you want to pack your bags and move to Dorset, Minnesota as fast as you can get there?
