Texas Mom Allegedly Let Sex Offender Tattoo Her Kids

A Texas mom has been arrested after authorities say she let a sex offender tattoo her children. The Dreamin’ Demon reports that the children’s dad came to the rescue in this case of accused child neglect and abuse.

The incident reportedly took place last week, and was reported to authorities by the children’s father — who noticed fresh tattoos on their ankles when he went to pick them up. The New York Daily News reports that the man’s 13-year-old son called him to retrieve him and his two younger siblings from his mother’s home. The teen told his father that “They had a surprise for him, and he might not like it.” The surprise was in the form of a tattoo on each of his children’s ankles — ages 9, 10, and 13. His 9-year-old daughter had a heart and arrow permanently tattooed on her ankle. His 10-year-old daughter had an infinity sign and cross on hers, and his 13-year-old son had a tattoo of a cross on his.

The man told authorities that the Texas mom — 31-year-old Ashley Weir — was passed out, drunk, when he went to pick up the kids. He noted that his children were “not being supervised” at the time. The man called the cops on the spot, and they quickly responded, but it took them announcing themselves several times before the Texas mom acknowledged them. The police report on the incident declares that Weir “was intoxicated. She had an odor of alcohol emitting from on or about her person. She wobbled, swayed and was unsure on her feet while standing.”

Ashley Weir admitted that she knew about the tattoos on her children’s ankles, but allegations against her indicate that she did more than simply allow her children to be tattooed. The man she allowed to tattoo her kids is a registered sex offender. His convictions include sexual conduct with a child of 12-years-old, and exposing himself to a 13-year-old girl. Nonetheless, the Texas mom allegedly thought it was okay to leave her nine and 10-year-old daughters alone with him while he tattooed them.

Reports aren’t indicating whether or not Weir knew that the man was a registered sex offender. However, he is the brother of her current boyfriend. Also, authorities say that she was hesitant about revealing the identity of the person who did the tattoos while she was being questioned after the incident.

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time a mother has been held under scrutiny for allowing her child to be tattooed. In fact, a video went viral in 2013 that showed a mother holding down her 3-year-old toddler while he is being tattooed. The video has been removed from YouTube, but can be watched on sites like Liveleak.

In this latest case, Texas mom Ashley Weir could face up to three years of imprisonment for allowing a sex offender to tattoo her three kids. Meanwhile, her case — and her mugshot — are attracting a lot of attention on social media. Of course, most of it is negative. Do you think three years of prison would be enough for allowing a sex offender to tattoo your young children?
