Former WWE Star Batista May Be Joining The Cast Of ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel With Harrison Ford And Ryan Gosling

Dave Bautista, known as Batista to the wrestling world, has really made a big name for himself in Hollywood and on the big screen. With roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Spectre, he’s not just grabbing bit parts here and there. Now, he’s laid out a really big tease, and it’s one that is making fans believe he will star alongside Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in Blade Runner 2.

A former world champion in WWE and someone who has main-evented WrestleMania, Bautista has really done well in transitioning to movies.

Coming Soon did reveal earlier this week that Robin Wright is in final negotiations to join the cast of Blade Runner 2. With Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling already on board, the sequel is quickly putting together an all-star cast.

On Saturday afternoon, Bautista took it upon himself to get on Twitter and tease everyone of something that may be soon to come.

Now, wrestling fans think that his tweet could have something to do with the awesome WWE Tag Team Champions known as The New Day. They do always speak of unicorns, and honestly, they do need a fourth partner to take on the League of Nations at WrestleMania 32 on Sunday.

There are some other names which will likely fill that spot or back up The New Day. Batista is a bit too busy to jump back into the ring, but his WWE career probably isn’t totally over yet.

Collider points out, though, that it is more than likely a hint at him soon joining the cast of the Blade Runner sequel. Anyone who has seen the original film knows that an origami unicorn plays a huge role in the plot, and there’s no need to spoil it.

As of now, there really isn’t a lot known about the Blade Runner sequel, which doesn’t even have an official title as of yet. It is being written by Michael Green and Hampton Fancher. The film will be based on a story from Fancher and Ridley Scott who will be executive producing.

The Blade Runner sequel will take place a number of decades after the events of the original film which was released in 1982. Oddly enough, the film was set in dystopian Los Angeles in a distant future, which was then 2019.

Gosling is going to take on a yet unnamed role, but Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as Rick Deckard from the original.

Dave Bautista was a big part of WWE for many years and still goes back to work with them from time to time. Ever since hopping out of the ring, he has gotten a number of acting jobs and really became known by playing Drax the Destroyer in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

He’s currently filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and since Blade Runner 2 won’t begin production until the summer, Bautista has time to get his current work done. He’s also just finished Warrior’s Gate, Marauders, and Kickboxer: Vengeance.

In 2015, he played Hinx in Spectre and was officially entered into the massively sprawling world of James Bond. Adding him to the cast of the Blade Runner sequel gives the filmmakers a not-so-young talent, but one that is really making a name for himself in Hollywood.

Blade Runner 2 is set to be released in theaters on Jan. 12, 2018, and more will likely be known about it soon as production is to begin in July. Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Robin Wright already make the film a likely success. Adding Dave “Batista” Bautista adds a veteran yet ever-rising star to the mix as well.
