Drew Barrymore Divorce: Actress Breaks Silence On Split From Will Kopelman, See Her Statement

Drew Barrymore’s divorce has been making headlines since the news that she and husband Will Kopelman were splitting up broke yesterday. Now, the actress is breaking her silence on the topic.

It has been less than 24 hours since news broke that Barrymore and Kopelman were headed for divorce court. The couple released an official statement to People Magazine earlier regarding their impending divorce and the break-up of their family.

“Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family. Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on. Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority.”

The statement Drew Barrymore released regarding her divorce from Will Kopelman was not your typical Hollywood divorce statement. Then again, Drew is far from your typical Hollywood actress having grown up in the spotlight. The two decided to focus on still being a family and their children being their priority. It is easy to see that the statement is not only well crafted but that it has a personal touch from the actress on it.

While the statement is very put together, again as most divorce statements in Hollywood are, Will and Drew did not give a generic statement about breaking up. The two added a personal touch talking about “divorce making you feel like a failure” and eventually “moving on.” The statement also makes it seem like the couple will still consider themselves a family, which is refreshing and will be beneficial to their children.

Reports that Will Kopelman and Drew Barrymore were headed for divorce began circulating back in January. Despite a report from Gossip Cop website that claimed the rumors were just that: Rumors. A mere three months later, the couple has officially revealed that they are separating.

The divorce news broke amidst reports that the couple was recently spotted at a wedding looking very happy together. An Us Weekly story has a source that claims that Barrymore and Kopelamn were together at a wedding on March 19, looking happier than ever. The couple did not give any indication that they were having troubles on that particular day.

Despite a recent citing of Will and Drew looking in love, the couple is getting a divorce and they just released a statement confirming the news. It is a poised statement that is full of love and talks of family. The couple are parents two daughters, 3-year-old Olive and 1-year old Frankie.

As for what will happen next in the Will Kopelman and Drew Barrymore divorce saga, well that remains to be seen. Although the couple has been living in New York City, where Will prefers to live and their daughter, Olive, is currently in preschool, Barrymore has always called Los Angeles home. Will Drew move her children to the city she grew up in or will keep them in the Big Apple close to their dad? That is only one detail these parents will be working through in the next few months as they and their daughters begin the next chapter of their lives.

Although Barrymore and Kopelman have released a joint statement regarding their divorce, neither one is talking details about what went wrong in their almost four years of marriage. Perhaps when the dust settles, one of them may speak out on the subject, but for now, both appear to be focusing on their new form of family.
