If you live in the UK and use Facebook you can now wager real money thanks to a new Facebook app called Bingo Friendzy. The app is the first in the Facebook App Center (UK) to allow users 18 and over to play an online game for real cash prizes.

The app is operated by Gamesys, the same company behind Bingo and Slots website Jackpotjoy.com.

By downloading the app users can take advantage of 90 Ball Bingo and Slots games that use real cash.

In a statement regarding the new partnership with Facebook Head of EMEA Gaming Partnerships Julien Codornious wrote:

“People love playing new types of games with their friends on Facebook and real money gaming is a popular leisure activity in the UK.

We’re delighted to be working with Gamesys to enable them to offer their games on Facebook so that people can enjoy playing more games with their friends.”

Gamesys and Facebook will work together to distribute the gambling platform to UK customers and more gambling company’s are expected to join the fray in the future.

Because of gambling legislation Facebook is also implementing controls to ensure only users 18 or older gamble with real money, while also attempting to protect “vulnerable people” who may develop or have already developed a gambling addiction. Among Facebook’s controls are self-help tools to limit spending and exclusion tools to remove a player from the game at anytime.

UK customers are not the only people clamoring for a piece of the internet gambling business, social gaming network Zynga has been working with Wynn in the United States to develop a legal online gambling platform.
