‘Ghost Asylum’ Returns With A New Interactive Season Of Thrills And Chills

The Tennessee Wraith Chasers (TWC) team of paranormal investigators are back for a third season of Ghost Asylum. Once again they will be exploring the dark and eerie halls of asylums, sanitariums, penitentiaries, and other haunted locations. Although their main goal in the past was to construct something that will allow them to actually capture spirits, this season viewers of Ghost Asylum can immerse themselves in the experience by becoming a virtual extension of the TWC team.

According to RenewCancel TV, the Ghost Asylum virtual-reality experience is available through Discovery VR, which offers over 70 short-form videos. Users can access the cross-digital network through DiscoveryVR website or the Discovery VR iOS, through Android apps and across the Littlstar network (including Apple TV and the Samsung Gear VR).

For those viewers who don’t have access to the VR technology, they can still virtually take part in a Ghost Asylum ghost hunt. They can virtually join the team on an investigation of Preston Castle, which was a former boys’ reform school that is located in California. Ghost Asylum viewers can watch as the castle comes to life with paranormal activity while searching for the spirit of a former ward known as Nicholas.

Simply using the arrow keys to look left, right, up, and down to progress through the castle is all that is required, and then various ghost-hunting gadgets can also be used to make contact with the other side. This is a 360-degree video of the Ghost Asylum experience that will be available on the DiscoveryVR website as well as Destination America’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

This season, Ghost Asylum will be visiting several locations featured each week during a 10-episode schedule. During the first episode, the team will be investigating the U.S.S. Edson, which is a decommissioned naval destroyer docked in Bay City, Michigan. Other Ghost Asylum locations this season include the Peoria Asylum in Bartonville, Illinois; Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City; Castillo de San Marcos, one of the country’s oldest military forts, in St. Augustine, Florida; and the Old South Pittsburg Hospital in Tennessee.

Steven McDougal, Chasey Ray McKnight, Scott Porter, and brothers Brannon and Chris Smith make up the Ghost Asylum team, and they go by the motto of respect, detect, and collect. TV Series Finale shared that the Ghost Asylum crew combines the latest in technology with their various ghost-hunting devices in order to find, communicate, and help restless spirits to move on and to finally rest in peace.

“The Wraith Chasers’ bravery is unmistakable, as their quest to collect paranormal evidence trumps any fear of spending the night in places so dark they could inspire horror movies,” said Jane Latman, the general manager of Destination America. “Through the exhilarating new opportunity provided by virtual reality, we’re excited to give fans the chance to see for themselves if they have what it takes to be a ghost hunter like the fearless team of Ghost Asylum.”

Ghost Asylum is produced by Tremendous! Entertainment (TEI) with Colleen Needles Steward, Shannon Keenan Demers, and Rob Hammersley serving as the executive producers. For over 20 years, Tremendous!
