Will Cyborg Be In ‘The Flash’ Movie?

His name is Barry Allen, and he is the fastest man alive. Could we be seeing the Justice League member Cyborg beside him?

It’s no news that Marvel and DC are bringing out many highly anticipated movies over the next few years. Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice just recently hit theaters, introducing two of the founding members of the Justice League together in an action-packed film. Wonder Woman also made an appearance, played by Gal Gadot. This has set the stage for future films to be teased and discussed, and The Flash has sped onto the frontlines with rumors that Cyborg will be making an appearance onto the big screen.

Cyborg, whose fictional government name is Victor “Vic” Stone, was originally part of the Teen Titans, a team of young superheroes led by Robin. However, in 2011, it was shown that Cyborg had been written as one of the main characters of the Justice League. This was part of The New 52 relaunch, a revised origin of the original Justice League. According to Forbes magazine, an interview with Deborah Snyder gives a small hint at Cyborg and the actor who is set to play him.

“As you can imagine, when we get to the Flash movie, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher — who plays Cyborg — are kind of our youngest characters, and they have a really nice comradery with each other. Ezra is super funny, so the tone of that film will be very different than the rest of them,” Snyder says. This leads us to believe that Cyborg will definitely be making his appearance, though not much more has been discussed at this point. Still, it makes sense, as a later movie for Justice League is in the works.

As you can see, Ezra Miller appears to be the actor who will play The Flash. This is implication that the movie version of The Flash may be different from that of the television version, as Grant Gustin plays the red Speedster on the CW network. This will undoubtedly lead to questions being asked, most notably what major differences will impact the film as a whole. Any fan of The Flash should be aware that the concept of a Multiverse, in which multiple versions of The Flash exist, is a strong point of the series. To this end, one would have hoped to see more than one Flash exist alongside another. Unfortunately, this will not be the case. In an interview with Charles Roven, it was confirmed that the two separate universes will remain just that.

“Our Flash is gonna be not that guy. He is terrific in doing what he’s doing. I think that whether it’s The Flash or Arrow, they’re doing a great job with the TV shows they’re doing. Gotham, that show’s really terrific. And we obviously wish them the best. It’s gonna be interesting to see what happens when we have a different Flash in a different universe. We’re gonna try to stay in our universe and they’re gonna be staying, I think, in their universe, and hopefully the audiences will embrace both. I think they can. You know, Supergirl is not in our universe, and that seems to be doing quite well.”

Roven went on to confirm that the film’s development is currently in the script stage. The Flash movie is set to be released in 2018, which means that Cyborg’s inclusion will be just as unique as the universe in which they exist. A recent image was confirmed by Cinema Blend to show Cyborg alongside other members of the Justice League, though it is unclear whether he will retain his trademark cannon arm and other features in his design.
