Madonna Holds Top 11 Spots On ‘Billboard’ Current Boxscore Chart

Madonna may not be winning in the custody battle business, but she definitely still is on top in the music industry. If anybody needs more proof that Madonna is still the Queen of Pop, all they have to do is look at this week’s Current Boxscore Chart from Billboard, where Madge holds the top 11 spots.

Madonna’s concert at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan is at No. 1 on the list. She played two shows that attracted 37,706 fans. Both shows made a whopping $9,609,418. On the lower end of the scale, Madonna’s show in Brisbane, Austraila attracted 13,886 fans and earned her $2,332,579. Madonna earned a lot of criticism for this show since she showed up hours late.

Madonna is not known to go on stage early in the evening. To her credit, Madonna did offer to pay for late night transportation, according to the Daily Mail.

“Madonna has offered to cover the cost of the late-night transport services put in place by the NSW Government to accommodate her Sydney concert goers. The extra services were put in place in anticipation of the singer’s concerts running until the early hours of the morning, with her Sunday night show running as late as 2am.”

The Daily Mail adds that a source close to Madonna said that the singer wasn’t forced by the NSW Government to foot the bill, but offered to pay herself because she cares about her fans. However, it doesn’t appear that there was public transportation for the fans after the Brisbane show ended really late.

Madonna’s tour in Australia sold well but earned her some pretty bad publicity. Besides showing up late for a couple shows, Madonna accidentally pulled down the top of a fan, which caused an Internet backlash. However, according to the Mirror, the fan — Josephine Georgiou — defended the singer and incident.

“The fan who had her breast exposed by Madonna has defended the Queen of Pop. Pretty Josephine Georgiou described her top being pulled down on stage as ‘the best moment of her life.’ She also insisted that only she had the right to label it embarrassing after social media went into meltdown following the incident in Brisbane on Thursday.”

Still, Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour itself received fantastic reviews Down Under. The Sydney Morning Herald claimed that Madonna still does it better than anyone.

“On Saturday, it felt like the queen had re-asserted herself. Her dancers were better, her sets more impressive, her re-interpretation of classics more creative. Everything was polished to within an inch of its life – which is what made it so magnificent,” said critic Michael Lallo.

The Guardian, which gave the show four stars, was just as impressed.

“Madonna belting out old hits, new hits, and old hits done in the manner of new hits – plus a bit of Sondheim and Motown, as well as a surprisingly moving cover of Edith Piaf – one hardly walks away unentertained. If the definition of an artist is their unique contribution to spectacle, the queen reigns supreme.”

As The Inquisitr reported last week, Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour helped her sell over $1.31 billion in tickets, making her the biggest solo live performer since 1990, when Billboard first started tracking sales. Bruce Springsteen holds the No. 2 spot, but he’ll likely take back the pole position by the time his latest outing, The River Tour 2016, ends. Madonna has hinted that she will tour again in 2019, so she could end up taking back the top spot.
