Watch Donald Trump MSNBC Town Hall Full Replay: Chris Matthews, Trump Go Mano A Mano In Hard Hitting Exchange

Donald Trump faces feisty MSNBC interviewer Chris Matthews in a Town Hall that can now be viewed in a full replay from Wednesday evening — an interview that has already caused yet another firestorm of controversy for Trump at least eight hours before the interview aired.

Trump met with Matthews in Green Bay, Wisconsin, earlier in the day Wednesday for the town hall taping, but MSNBC knew it had big news when, in an exchange with Matthews over the issue of abortion, Trump declared not only that abortion would be outlawed under a Trump presidency — but that women who then undergo abortions must suffer “some form of punishment.”

Trump’s remark about “punishment” for women who have illegal abortions in the America of President Donald Trump brought an immediate backlash from both the left as well as from opponents of abortion.

Trumps’ top challenger for the Republican presidential nomination, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, also issued a statement criticizing Trump.

Perhaps as a result of the backlash, Trump did something he has rarely done during his campaign of relentless controversy — he reversed his position. And in this case, it took him only a matter of hours, as Trump issued a written statement disavowing his pledge to punish women who obtained illegal abortions, saying that only doctors should be punished.

“The woman is a victim in this case, as is the life in her womb,” Trump said in the statement.

Depsite Trump’s walkback of his position, the controversy over his call for women to suffer “some form of punishment” for obtaining abortion appears unlikely to simmer down quickly.

Also on Wednesday, People Magazine published its first profile of Donald Trump on the campaign, putting the Republican frontrunner, who was previously best known as a reality TV star and real estate developer, on its coveted cover.

Among the details revealed about the private life of Donald Trump in the People Magazine article were his claim that even at age 69, he sleeps only four hours per night — and refuses to exercise.

“Don’t have to,” he told People. “When you’re making speeches for 25,000 people and shouting and screaming and having fun with everybody and making America great again, you get a lot of exercise.”

People Magazine Editorial Director Jess Cagle said that the magazine was initially reluctant to publish a cover story on Donald Trump.

This particular cover was a tough decision right up to the last minute,” Cagle wrote in the People issue with Trump on the cover. “Why? Because Trump is just so divisive.”

Also included in the profile of Trump — the candidate’s fear of germs, which makes shaking hands with his supporters at his campaign rallies an emotionally difficult experience for him.

“And I’m right, because you do catch problems from shaking hands. But you have no choice if you are running for office or a politician.”

The article also includes quotes from individuals associated with Trump who describe him as “caring and kind.”

But a biographer who sat for eight hours on interviews with Trump last year revealed another strange insight from his conversations with the then-future candidate. Trump apparently believes that he is genetically superior to other humans.

“Donald told me he believes far more in natural ability, genetic ability, than in anything someone can learn,” Trump biographer Michael D’Antonio told People.
