Heroic Father Gets Electrocuted While Attempting To Save Daughter In Pool With Faulty Wiring – Five Other Victims Survive

A father got electrocuted while saving his daughter from a swimming pool with faulty wiring. The dad died after jumping in the swimming pool after he saw his daughter struggling. Seven people were electrocuted in the accident but all, expect the father, survived.

A Northern California family is mourning the loss of a doting father who jumped in a swimming pool to save his daughter who had started to turn blue. Not knowing she was getting electrocuted, the father dove in and suffered severe electrical shock, along with five other people. Unfortunately, the brave father died at the hospital but managed to save his daughter. The other victims survived and were treated for injuries sustained due to electrocution.

The father, identified as 43-year-old Jim Tramel, was at a family gathering in Palm Springs when he noticed his 9-year-old daughter struggling in the swimming pool. The incident happened on this Sunday at a family home. Noticing his daughter struggling and turning blue, Tramel leaped into the pool to save her.

It is not immediately clear, but the father may not have been aware that his daughter was getting electrocuted along with five other people. Tramel, too, got electrocuted, while other adults rushed to cut off the electrical supply and pulled out the father and daughter, along with the other victims. The other people at the gathering attempted to administer CPR to the father and the daughter while waiting for the paramedics to arrive, confirmed police.

While the daughter did survive, the father, who was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center, wasn’t so lucky. The doctors attending to the emergency declared Tramel dead a short while later, reported Fox 8. Among the other victims were a 45-year-old woman and four kids, including a 6-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl. All were treated for related injuries and were released the same day. However, Tramel’s daughter remains in critical condition at the Loma Linda hospital. Authorities believe all victims, apart from Tramel and his daughter, were quite far from the faulty pool equipment that they were able to get out of the pool safely, reported Canada Journal.

Tramel worked for several Bay Area tech companies, the latest being RevJet in San Carlos. He was the vice president of sales for the company, but he will be better remembered as a kind, loving, and gregarious man, shared a friend.

“He could walk into any room; everyone was excited to meet him. I don’t think he ever met anyone he didn’t consider a friend.”

The founder and CEO of RevJet, Mitchell Weisman, added his condolences and said him and his colleagues were “in a word, heartbroken” by the tragic accident. The CEO set up a GoFundMe page for Tramel’s family on Monday. As of writing this story, the donations towards the Jim Tramel Memorial Fund have reached almost $118,000 from almost 700 people.

The page mentions that Tramel was trying to save one of his three children and adds the little survivor is fighting for her life in intensive care. While her condition is listed as critical, family members and friends are praying for her quick recovery.

Apart from the fact that the group was electrocuted, there’s little known about the accident. Police officials believe that the swimming pool most likely had faulty wiring. Experts note that pool lights are one of the most dangerous, but oft-neglected features of a swimming pool. Incorrect or haphazard installation, without strictly following the guidelines, can result in slow deterioration of the safety seals, which can break away over a period of time. The father, who got electrocuted while attempting to save his daughter, may have been a victim of similar faulty wiring, shared the police.
