Is Lea Michele Recording A New Album After Devastating Breakup?

Is Lea Michele recording a new album? It looks like the Glee and Scream Queens star is recording the follow-up to her debut album Louder. It isn’t yet known who’s on her follow-up album, but if her first album is any indication of what she has in store for her next effort, it should fare well with fans. On her first album, she had talents such as Sia and Christina Perri behind the scenes writing tracks.

The word about Lea Michele’s album hit outlets after Michele shared photos of her in the studio on her Instagram.

According to E! Online, she’s using this as an excuse to get over her heartbreak from her recent breakup with Matthew Paetz. The two were dating for two years before Paetz broke up with Lea Michele. According to multiple reports, Michele had no idea the split was coming despite the two being on the rocks. The whole thing came as a shock to her.

Sources told E! Online that Lea’s career might have gotten to Paetz, who was a male gigolo-turned-model when they met.

“They’ve been hot and cold for some time now—one day fighting and the next madly in love. Friends believe that Lea’s success came between the two and Matthew began to resent Lea.”

It sounds like this album might be a source of healing in the midst of her heartbreak, which was the case for her first album after the sudden passing of her boyfriend and Glee co-star Cory Monteith. Monteith was found dead in a hotel room of a drug overdose in 2013. In the midst of grieving, Lea Michele recorded “If You Say So,” a song which described the last exchange she and Monteith shared before he died.

Months after losing Monteith, Lea Michele met Matthew Paetz, and as stated, the two dated for two years.

When news of the breakup hit, sources were immediately defending Michele, with one source saying that Matthew used Lea throughout their relationship.

“He ended up being an opportunist who took advantage and broke up with her in a very heartless way. Her friends were always concerned with the relationship because of his past. All of those fears were validated.”

When it was confirmed Lea was seeing Matthew, people questioned whether it was a good idea due to his past as a male gigolo. Despite that, Lea stayed by Matthew, and their relationship grew.

“She was also very supportive of him even when her friends were skeptical of him because of his past. Lea wanted to believe in love and wanted to believe the good in him. She didn’t think he should be punished for his past.”

Right before their split, Lea was singing Matthew’s praises on the podcast Fempire.

At the time, Michele said, “We’ve stood by each other through anything that was thrown our way. He’s such a great man that he would never really let anything like that ever crack our lovely little core that we’ve created.”

To pick herself up from her breakup, other than recording her next album in the studio, Lea has been seen out and about taking Soul Cycle classes and going on hikes with some of her friends. Recently, she was spotted with her BFF, actor Jonathan Groff, celebrating a special occasion in New York.
