Nick Kyrgios Goes On Another Rant At Miami Open, Says That Tennis Is Biased And Ruined

In what seems to be a somewhat of a routine these days for tennis player Nick Kyrgios, he went on yet another on-court rant at the 2016 Miami Open. He lost his cool with the chair umpire during his winning match against Andrey Kuznetsov on Tuesday. The young Australian spoke his mind using some choice words, and said that this sport is biased. This time he mentioned Rafael Nadal, who really had nothing to do with this particular match.

Kyrgios is known for his rants on the court. It is not highly unusual for him to be swearing on court or taking his frustrations out on his racket and ball. He has been called “the bad boy of tennis,” and even though it may fit him, Nick Kyrgios believes that he is being treated unfairly in the sport.

In a report by CNN,Nick got reprimanded for hitting a ball towards a few spectators and barely missing one of them. Immediately, you could hear tennis fans that came out to watch this match booing him.

That action from the controversial player cost him a code violation from chair umpire Cedric Mourier. Kyrgios did not let it go, as he went off on Mourier when the game was over. He blasted him and the whole sport of tennis saying that it is biased and totally ruined. He believes that players such as Rafael Nadal would have had a different outcome if he would have lost his cool like he did.

“Anyone else, like Rafa [Nadal] did that, you would keep it cool. This game is biased as anything. You all know it as well. It’s biased as s**t, this game. What else has it got to hide? It’s ruined. Absolutely ruined.”

These kinds of outbursts have cost him dearly in the past. Just a couple of weeks ago at Indian Wells, Nick exploded at the chair umpire for being punished for using foul language on court during his losing match to Spaniard Albert Ramos. According to Reuters, he ended up getting docked a point for his offensive words, and a spat with the umpire ensued.

In addition, the 20-year-old pro was fined at the Shanghai Masters in October when he went on and on about the horrible surface there at the tournament, and also using expletives. Of course, his most famous outburst was when Nick Kyrgios lashed out at Stan Wawrinka last year as he trash talked to Stan about his tennis player girlfriend at the time. He had obviously gone too far and was fined $25,000. Nick was also suspended for 28 days.

Is Nick Kyrgios really being treated unfairly? Some fans seem to think so as they have expressed their opinions on this topic on social media. It seems that they feel like the Australian is just getting picked on by every little thing that he does. They said that they are tired of all of the negativity surrounding their favorite player.

Despite all of the controversy, fines, and bans that have taken place, Nick Kyrgios continues to be one of the up-and-coming young tennis players. After his 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 winning match over Kuznetsov at the Miami Open, he has become the youngest player to reach the quarterfinals at this tournament since 2009. Kyrgios is also the first Australian to go this far in Miami since Lleyton Hewitt did so in 2002. That is quite an accomplishment.

Kyrgios said in the off-court interview that it was a tough match to get through at the Miami Open. He noted that the humidity almost got the best of him, but he pulled out his career-high win and now moves on to the quarterfinals. Nick will face Canadian Milos Raonic to be able to confirm his spot in the semifinals.

Who is your pick to survive the men’s semifinal match at the Miami Open? Do you think that Nick Kyrgios is being treated poorly by officials?
