New Snapchat Update – Incredible ‘Chat 2.0’ Features Are Rolling Out Today

Snapchat has come a long way since it was first launched by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Frank Reginald “Reggie” Brown IV in 2011 and today it will roll out its new Snapchat update “Chat 2.0.” Long gone are the days of 10-second selfies and upon us are the days of vomiting sloths, weird filters, messaging, live chats, and Snapchat stories.

Snapchat has grown into a major communications platform and today they are rolling out their new Snapchat update Chat 2.0. Snapchat made the announcement on their blog on Tuesday.

“Today, we’re excited to introduce Chat 2.0. You can start by sending a few chats, and when your friend shows up, start talking or video chatting instantly with one tap. Your friend can simply listen if you want to sing them a song, or watch if you have a new puppy to show them. If they aren’t there, you can quickly send an audio note to say what you mean. And sometimes, a sticker says it best :)”

With the new Snapchat update, users can video and voice chat their friends with one touch instead of having to hold the button down. Users can also send video notes, audio notes, and integrate stickers into their chat conversations.

The new Snapchat update will come with a message from @teamsnapchat explaining how to use the new features. According to Self, Chat 2.0 will take a few hours to roll out so it will hit users at different times like the last update, but will not take two days longer to hit Androids as the last Snapchat update did. As always, Snapchat users will need to update the app and accept the new terms and conditions before they can start chatting with friends using the Snapchat Chat 2.0 features.

Another exciting new feature with the Snapchat update is the auto stories. Meaning, you can watch your friends’ stories continuously without having to click each person. One story will end and another will start.

“We’re also introducing Auto-Advance Stories, the fastest way to catch up with your friends. When you finish a Story, the next one begins automatically — simply swipe to skip ahead, or pull down to exit!”

This is the biggest Snapchat update of 2016 and users were told an update would happen back in January. Snapchat is a growing platform that needs to keep evolving to keep people interested.

“When we first launched Chat, our goal was to emulate the best parts of face-to-face conversation. Chat 1.0 was all about the joys of being here — when most apps told you when your friend was typing, Chat let you know that your friend was listening. Two years later, we’ve learned a ton about how people talk, but our goal remains unchanged. We want Chat to be the best way to communicate — second only to hanging out face-to-face.” Snapchat announced on their blog.

Snapchat’s new update allows all forms of human communication on one interface, according to Techcrunch. “[Snapchat is] actually delivering on its goal to be the second most vibrant way to interact beyond talking in person.” Users can use video, audio, text, symbols, and drawings all from the one interface instead of using several different ones. It is leaps and bounds ahead of other chat apps and has a more natural and expressive style that users love.

Snapchat’s new update essentially turns the app into a phone. Users can Video Call or Audio Call anyone at any time and the new update will intelligently tell the caller their partner is “unavailable” if they miss the call.

Snapchat’s new features make Facebook and Twitter seem boring with their white-spaces and plain text, and is a much more personnel app than Instagram. According to Mediakix, Snapchat was one of the top 13 U.S. apps downloaded overall and placed third among video app downloads in 2015. At the rate it is going, it will be No. 1 for both in 2016.
