Jon Lovitz And Jessica Lowndes Relationship Revealed As An Internet Hoax

Are Jon Lovitz and Jessica Lowndes dating? That’s the question that trended on Twitter for hours, and now, all has been revealed. As it just so happens, Lovitz and Lowndes, despite all of their lovey-dovey social media posts about their new relationship, aren’t actually dating. In short, it was all an early April Fool’s prank.

So are they just two co-stars having fun with each other? Somewhat, but it’s at the expense of everyone else. According to reports, the two decided to start rumors that they were dating in an attempt to promote the 90210 star’s new single.

It all started to line up and make sense when the series of Twitter and Instagram posts turned into a full-fledged music video featuring the two. The clips were all for Lowndes’ new music video Deja Vu — talk about a great marketing stunt. Not only were people talking about the stunt, they were now aware that Jessica Lowndes had a music career.

Some were even surprised to find that Jon Lovitz was still working, and others feared once his name started trending on Twitter that he had died. In this day and age, the latter response is typical, as people who pass suddenly tend to trend on Twitter for hours.

In case you missed it, the two really milked their 31-year age difference on Instagram, with Lowndes posing for photos while hinting at her much older love.

It was Lovitz who later “revealed” that they were an item, which Lowndes’ manager later confirmed was just an early April Fool’s prank.

Lowndes finally let the cat out of the bag by revealing her April Fool’s prank. She seemed pleased by how well it went, given that Lovitz’s name was trending for hours and multiple outlets went with the social media posts and reported the “news” that they were “dating” and possibly “engaged.”

In an Instagram post, Jessica said, “Many people don’t know this about me but I’m a giant goofball and I love playing practical jokes???? When you see the new video, you’ll see that it’s done with a big wink! (Link in bio) http://bit.ly/EarlyAprilFools #aprilfools #DejaVuRemix #popupvideo.”

It just goes to show that stars have such a strong narrative on the stories they want to curate via social media. Sometimes, as Lowndes proved, the celebrity drives the content and the outlets follow spectacularly.

After the prank was over, Jessica decided to turn the message to her new music, especially now that she has everyone’s attention. The star said this in a separate Instagram post, captioning a photo of a clip of her new music video.

“I’ve been writing music and making music videos in my backyard since I was a kid. I haven’t signed a deal, have funded my music myself because singing has always and will always be a passion of mine. I produced this video and it’s amazing to have some of my closest friends in it! Thank you guys for being a part of this!”

It looks like Lovitz had a good time being a part of the prank as well. The actor-comedian retweeted this amazing tweet.
