Was Rihanna And Drake’s Split Caused By Her Family? Or Are They Still Dating?

Rihanna and Drake have one of the most talked-about on-and-off romances in music today, and currently, they appear to be off. However, according to a recent report, their lack of a romance doesn’t have anything to do with the couple. Instead, Rihanna and Drake’s most recent split is reportedly the result of her family’s dislike of the rapper.

Although Rihanna and Drake’s relationship has seemed quite pleasant in the past, rumor has it that Rihanna’s mom is not a fan and wants her daughter with someone much stronger than Drake.

“It’s mostly her mom Monica [Braithwaite] who thinks he’s totally over-rated and not strong enough for her girl,” a source told OK! Magazine on March 28.

According to the report, Rihanna was shocked two years ago when her mother came to her about her ill feelings towards Drake, which came just as the pair was reportedly getting serious about one another. However, despite the positive progression of Rihanna and Drake’s relationship at that time, Rihanna reportedly gave in to her mother, Monica, who allegedly “begged her” to call it off. Now, history is said to be repeating itself.

In addition to feeling as though Drake was reportedly not strong enough for her daughter, Monica was said to have weight concerns regarding the rapper and most certainly doesn’t want bad DNA being introduced to her family.

“She’s paranoid about the fat gene being passed down and is convinced Drake has thyroid problems because of his fluctuating weight,” the insider said, adding that Rihanna’s friends feel that Drake is “a big guy and has been known to wear Spanx.”

Rihanna and Drake’s romance first began years ago following her highly publicized split from Chris Brown. However, despite their regular hangouts, Rihanna and Drake have never appeared to be super exclusive. Instead, their romance appears to be that of convenience. With Rihanna and Drake set to spend time together as her tour continues, there’s likely a possibility that their romance will be reignited.

“As charming as he is, Rihanna’s friends just don’t think she’s attracted to him for anything to last,” the source added. “He’s going on tour with her and everyone’s saying that’s a mistake.”

Rihanna and Drake have engaged in some super flirty behavior as of late, but when it comes to Rihanna’s feelings for Drake, the source claimed she’s far less into him than he is into her.

“Drake’s so love-sick over Rihanna,” the source said, “she’s got him wrapped around her finger. She likes a challenge and Drake just doesn’t cut it.”

At the end of last year, Rihanna was linked to Travis Scott, but after debuting their relationship at an event, it seemed to fade quite quickly, and shortly after it did, Rihanna and Drake were seen getting touchy feely during the 2016 Brit Awards in London, England.

Weeks prior, Rihanna denied being in a relationship with Drake during an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show, via Billboard Magazine.

“I’m single right now and it’s not that I’m like, ‘Oh, pro-single, yes, I hate men!’ I just think I have so much on my plate that I can’t even find the time to entertain a steady relationship or anything serious. Or even a text.”
