Garrett Reid, 29, son of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid was found dead in his dorm room bed on Sunday morning. Having grown up around the Eagles players and personnel the announcement of his death was made by Eagles general manger Howie Roseman who fought back tears as he announced Garrett’s death.

Roseman on Sunday morning said:

“I have some heartbreaking news to share with you all … It’s a tough morning for all of us in the Eagles’ family. Garrett grew up with this team, and this makes this news even harder for us to process. Our hearts go out to Andy, Tammy, Britt, Spencer, Crosby and Drew Ann,” — Garrett Reid’s parents and siblings. “We ask sincerely that you respect the family’s privacy during this time … We’ve been with Andy for a long time. He’s always been strong for us, and we’re going to get strong for him right now.”

A 911 call revealed an “unresponsive male” and police say “no suspicious activity” is believed to be involved.

Garrett Reid had a drug problem in the past that saw him incarcerated several times through 2009 at which  point he sought help, after turning his life around be became an assistant to the Eagles’ strength coaches at camp.

Philadelphia Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie was suppose to give his annual state-of-the-team address on Sunday but that event has been canceled in light of the days tragedy.

The Eagles did conduct their walkthrough on Sunday morning at the request of Andy Reid.
