Jennifer Lopez Reveals ‘Devastating’ Marc Anthony Divorce Is Her Biggest Disappointment [Video]

Jennifer Lopez is getting candid about her failed marriage to Marc Anthony.

Lopez frankly spoke out and opened up about her 2014 divorce from Marc in a candid new interview with People, where Jennifer described her and Anthony’s surprising split two years ago as being her “biggest disappointment” to date.

“I had been married twice before and I didn’t want this to be a failure,” Lopez said of her third marriage earlier this week, describing her break-up with Anthony as being both “devastating and awful.”

Lopez candidly confessed in the new interview that neither she nor her former husband ever expected to break-up and revealed that she believed that she and her now former husband would be married for their entire lives. “I think both Marc and I thought at the time we would be together for the next 40 years until we die,” Jennifer confessed about their former marriage, which lasted for 10 years between 2004 and 2014.

Lopez candidly described their unsuccessful attempt at marriage as being “the biggest disappointment of my life so far” in the new People interview, where Jennifer also told the site about how splitting from the Latin singer made her lose her way in life for a while.

“I felt like at that time I had lost my way a little bit, of who I was in trying to make the marriage [work],” Lopez said of her break-up with the father of her two children, Max and Emme, “I just put all my heart and soul into that and forgot who I was as an individual a little bit.”

But while Jennifer is admitting that her 2014 divorce was one of the most difficult times in her life, Lopez told People that she knew that splitting with Marc had to happen eventually. “It was the right thing,” Lopez said.

Jennifer previously opened up about her and Marc’s painful divorce in a scene featured in the documentary Jennifer Lopez: Dance Again last year, where Jennifer tearfully admitted that there was “no pain” like the pain she felt following her and Anthony’s 2014 break-up.

“I remember being on the set and being in my dressing room and not feeling like I could get up in the morning,” Jennifer confessed in the documentary according to the Daily Mail, before admitting to her millions of fans that “there’s just no pain like that.”

“There’s no pain or failure like going through a divorce,” Lopez continued in an emotional scene taken from the personal 2015 HBO documentary. “That hope, that dream, that fairytale, with that first time that dream gets blown to pieces, you feel like you’re going to die, you feel like you failed. You feel like no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t make it work,” Jennifer said.

Adding that divorcing Marc Anthony, her third husband, “wasn’t [her] dream,” Jennifer Lopez tearfully confessed last year that her dream “was for us to always be together.”

Neither Lopez nor Anthony have revealed the true reason behind their break-up, and Marc even confessed during an appearance on The Meredith Viera Show in 2015 that it’s unlikely he or Jennifer will ever publicly reveal why they decided to divorce.

“I don’t talk about it much as a whole; I just think that’s private,” Marc said of his and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce at the time, “I really, really do and I never have and I’m not sure I ever will. I don’t think it’s for public consumption. It’s hard enough as it is.”
