Daytime Emmy Awards Nominations 2016: ‘Y&R’ And ‘GH’ Lead Nominations

The 2016 Daytime Emmy Awards nominations were announced on The Talk today and The Young & The Restless led with 27 nominations.

It is that time of year again, when those in the daytime industry are recognized for all their hard work. The ladies of the CBS talk show The Talk announced the 2016 Daytime Emmy Awards nominations today and soon the #DaytimeEmmys was trending on Twitter.

Although Y&R held the most nominations, General Hospital came in a close second with 24 nominations, narrowly beating out The Bold and The Beautiful which earned 23 nominations. Day of Our Lives received the least amount of nominations, only earning 16 total noms.

The 2016 Daytime Emmy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 1. However, unlike past years, according to Soap Opera Network the show will not be televised or available online to watch. The executive board of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences confirmed earlier today that due “to the climate of awards show at this time,” the show will not be aired.

It is sad that the Daytime Emmy Awards will not be aired live. However, that should not take away from how deserving all of the nominees are. Each nominee deserves a round of applause.
