Ryan Lochte Clears Up Mother’s “One-Night Stand” Comment

Sorry ladies — Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte really isn’t into one-night stands.

Just one day after she told USA Today that her son preferred uncommitted hookups as “he is always on the go,” Lochte’s mother Ike clarified the comments to the newspaper, saying she meant dates and not sleeping around.

“All I wanted to say is that he’s so sensitive about not wanting to hurt a girl dating, so he just goes and dates and takes out a girl for maybe one or two dates and doesn’t have a relationship because he doesn’t have [time] and it’s not fair to the women,” Ike Lochte told USA Today earlier today.

She added:

“I thought that was so sensitive, but then they turned it around. I’m not used to this. … What kind of mom is going to say that (about her son having one-night stands)? Especially being a mom and having two daughters.”

As for Lochte, USA Today writes that gold-medalist wasn’t too upset about the comments and went on to say that his mother is new to the press and he knew what she meant.

“I knew how the media was going to take it, and I knew what my mom really meant,” Ryan said. “She’s new to the whole media (experience), so she didn’t really understand that they were going to twist it and make it bad.

“She definitely was like, ‘Why would they do that?’ She is so oblivious to everything.”

Ryan Lochte finished up his competition in the 2012 London Olympic Games on Thursday after winning a total of 5 medals: 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
