America’s growing waistline seems doesn’t make much sense given our obsession with losing weight and now those who are trying have turned to a new weight-loss supplement — raspberry ketone.
SBWire.com reports that back in February TV’s Dr. Oz ran a segment hailing raspberry ketone as a weight-loss supplement and since then the sales have continued to rise.
”Raspberry ketone is the primary aroma compound of red raspberries,” Dr. Oz said on his show. “This compound regulates adiponectin, a protein used by the body to regulate metabolism. Raspberry ketone causes the fat within your cells to get broken up more effectively, helping your body burn fat faster. The recommended dose is 100mg per day. To get the same benefit from the whole fruit, you’d have to consume 90 pounds of raspberries.”
Proponents of the supplement, say it slows down fat absorption, increases the ability to oxidize fat, acts as a natural glucose replacement and helps limit the accumulation of fat while reducing fat production.
Raspberry Ketone is also used as a food additive, and in perfumes.
One should consider carefully where to buy the weight-loss supplement if you’re interested. They say to always make sure the product is made by someone reputable, only buy products that are certified, avoid buying Raspberry Ketone packaged with other supplements and to remember that more often than not you get what you pay for.
Though the diet aid appears to be popular at the moment, as always, you should consult your doctor before taking Raspberry Ketone or any new product, or starting a diet plan.
