Robert Pattinson To Make First Public Appearance Post-Kristen Scandal

The incredibly private Robert Pattinson still hasn’t said anything publicly about former-flame Kristen Stewart’s cheating scandal, but he’s primed and ready to get back to work promoting his upcoming film Cosmopolis.

The enigmatic Pattinson has scheduled his first public appearance since the Kristen Stewart scandal – a simple New York red carpet promotional event for Cosmopolis to take place on August 13th, according to NY Daily. “Cosmopolis is a film that Robert is very proud of and looks forward to supporting,” Pattinson’s rep told E! on Tuesday. “No confirmed engagements have been canceled. Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate.” This also includes an Aug. 15 event with Pattinson and director David Cronenberg, which is said to be “on track.”

As Pattinson slowly begins to make media appearances to promote his upcoming film, it’s almost inevitable that reporters will be asking him about Kristen Stewart, hindering his attempts to focus media attention on the film. To avoid this, his team could quietly brief reporters on what not to ask him, but sooner or later, Pattinson will have to publicly address the situation, even if it’s just to say, “I’m not going to publicly address the situation.”

For her part, Kristen Stewart has also remained mum on the subject since her well-intentioned but misguided public mea culpa. She’s reportedly been sulking in the home of her parents in the Woodland Hills, and has sought comfort from Panic Room co-star Jodie Foster.

You can see Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis when it releases on August 17th.
