‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Liam Cunningham Teases ‘Quite A Few’ Deaths In Season 6 — Our Best Predictions

The sixth season of Game of Thrones may be its most mysterious to date. While the cast and crew has done a great job at keeping spoilers to a minimum, Liam Cunningham recently dished a few hints at what the new season will bring. According to Ser Davos, the upcoming season will introduce new faces as even more characters will meet their untimely end. Which characters are more likely to die when Game of Thrones returns to television?

In an interview with TVLine, Cunningham expertly gave away as much as he could without spoiling anything major. For starters, the actor revealed that something epic is in store for the sixth season. Whether or not this means a large battle or something else entirely is unknown, though Cunningham did state that it took a long time to film the scene.

“There is an enormous … There is a section as the season progresses that we haven’t tackled before, size-wise. It’s incredibly cinematic,” Cunningham stated. “It took an incredibly long time to shoot … I probably shouldn’t be telling you this: It’s going to blow out of the water what has happened in the previous seasons combined.”

Apart from this mysterious scene, Cunningham also shared how a number of new faces will be introduced this season. As is true with any season of the hit series, there isn’t a single character that is safe in the world of Westeros.

“There’s a certain kind of bizarre new philosophy to what they’re doing. It’s different this year… There’s quite a few new people. There’s quite a few people going this year — as there is every year, to be fair. I’m not speaking out of shop when I say that. But I was astonished at the numbers. [Laughs] … It’s one of the things that makes the show so interesting: the fact that nobody’s safe. Anybody can go at any time.”

With the new season of Game of Thrones not based off a published book by George R.R. Martin, it truly is anyone’s guess what will happen next. According to Siver Times, there is a good chance that a few of the bad guys in the series will meet their end this season. This includes the likes of either Ramsay or Roose Bolton, and perhaps even Balon Greyjoy. All three characters are vying for control over the north, which probably won’t end well for at least one of the parties in question.

Meanwhile, Business Times is reporting that there could be a number of different resurrections in Season 6, and not just Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington). Apart from the myriad of theories concerning Jon’s ultimate fate, there is a good chance that The Hound is still breathing.

Back in Season 4, Rory McShane’s character was left for dead by one Arya Stark. Without his death confirmed, fans have been left to speculate if he survived his encounter with Brienne of Tarth. Ian McShane’s casting shed a little more light on The Hound’s fate, as his character is expected to help bring back a former character. Whether or not McShane’s character will bring back The Hound or someone else is unknown.

At the same time, there are a few questions surrounding the fate of Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage). Tyrion’s head was featured in a promo trailer, which hinted that his death would be forthcoming. However, considering his role in the larger story of the series, it would be very surprising if the writers decided to end his run on the show.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones is set to premiere on April 24 on HBO.
