Harrison Ford Talks New ‘Indiana Jones’ Movie In New Interview

It was recently announced that Harrison Ford would return to the Indiana Jones franchise with a fifth installment. Fans went nuts about the upcoming movie, which will reunite Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford.

Now, Ford is speaking about the upcoming film for the first time. In a sit down interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Ford opened up about the upcoming installment. According to E!, Harrison said that he was “excited” for the fifth Indiana Jones film.

Of course, since Ford is known for being a man of very few words during interviews, Kimmel tried his best to tease little details out of the upcoming film. Unfortunately, we found out that Harrison Ford doesn’t even know what’s going to happen in the next film, given that it was just announced. According to Ford, the film is still in very early stages.

Kimmel joked, “Did you demand that they kill Indiana Jones?” It’s a question that plays on the fate of his Star Wars: The Force Awakens character Han Solo. Ford answered, “I haven’t read the script! I’m talking about the contract!”

That said, he told the host that he was quick to say yes to Steven Spielberg.

“It’s fun. It’s great fun to play this character. It’s great fun to work with Steven. I’m looking forward to it.”

When Kimmel persisted for details, Ford joked, “Sure, I can tell you the whole thing that happens.”

Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn set the record straight on the rumors and confirmed that there would be another Indiana Jones film. In a statement, Horn said the following.

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about this news. Back in October, there were whispers that an Indiana Jones film was in the works, but nothing would move forward without its star Harrison Ford. Producer Frank Marshall confirmed this rumor with Den of Geek.

“We’re not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones.”

As for the shocking fate of Han Solo, Ford was all up for joking around about how it came about. “You work for like 25 years for the company. You do your best. You show up every day, you do your job, and then they just let you go.”

Kimmel shot back “In this case, they actually killed you.” With a smirk, Ford said, “Shocking! Shocking!” As true fans know, Ford had wanted Han Solo to meet his maker ages ago. Harrison explained to the audience, “I argued for 30 years for this to happen, and finally I wore ’em down.”

That said, Ford might not be finished with Star Wars just yet. When Kimmel suggested that he wouldn’t appear in the other films, the actor said, “Who said that? Who made you the boss?”

As the Inquisitr reported, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the iconic actor said about the decision which shocked fans, “I think it’s a fitting use of the character. I’ve been arguing for Han Solo to die for about 30 years, not because I was tired of him or because he’s boring, but his sacrifice for the other characters would lend gravitas and emotional weight.”
