WWE News: WWE Superstar Luke Harper Injured During RAW Dark Match, Out Indefinitely
When it comes to pro-wrestling, everything might be pre-determined entertainment driven by storylines with characters of all types. However, the action you see in there can be very, very dangerous for the competitors. They have to go to wrestling school for a reason, as they have to learn how to take the moves you see. That does not mean accidents do not happen or a person’s body won’t break down. Both happen all the time. In 2015 and now 2016, WWE has seen its fair share of injuries.
I’m not sure if there has ever been a time when WWE lost so many people due to injury within a year’s span. Some are back from their injuries already, while others will be back soon. That does not mean WWE can afford any other person getting hurt. That is why the latest injury is such a blow. Luke Harper of The Wyatt Family appears to have been injured. Harper was set to take part in a WWE RAW dark match last night.
The Wyatt’s were set to take on Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Roman Reigns, and Sami Zayn in the dark main event of the night. It was set to be a good ending to the show. WWE usually does a dark main event at each TV taping to send the fans home happy. Sometimes they do a promo with some top stars, but the match is the usual case. A lot of things went crazy on Monday night. Braun Strowman was attacked by a fan during the match.
This man obviously had a death wish. He was ejected and could very well face legal action by WWE, which already warned fans to not attack the talent after the attacks last year. On top of that, Luke Harper was injured very early on in the match. It appears as if he had a leg injury of some kind. Early word is that he has an ACL injury, but that has not been confirmed as of now.
It was unknown to fans if Harper was really hurt, as WWE Superstars do play up injuries for the crowd to help drive the story of the match. However, once pictures showed up online….it was pretty obvious Harper was hurt. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer managed to get a picture of Bray Wyatt by Harper’s side as he was being loaded up into an ambulance. This clearly means Luke Harper is not in good shape.
While the full injury is not yet known, WWE usually does update us on the injuries that happen to their talent. That means we will have to wait a bit to find out the test results from the hospital.
Luke Harper being out long could be a major blow to the family. While Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman very well could be enough for the Wyatts, Luke Harper was seen as the best wrestler among the bigger men of the group. He takes the better bumps and does the most in the ring outside of Bray Wyatt himself normally.
Bray Wyatt has been nursing a back injury, but he has been back in action for a small bit here and there. He was usually doing tag team work to keep him from having to do a core of the bumps, which the other members of the family took instead. Harper was the main talent among the group that the Wyatts would use, so losing him does hurt a lot more than people realize. This could push WWE to wanting Bray to get back in the ring and work more.
It could also force us into seeing more Braun Strowman, who is still very green and has only a couple of moves to turn to, whereas Harper was able to do just about anything. Luke Harper very well could be gone a while, as of now, it’s indefinitely. We will know more in the coming days. Stay tuned.
