An arrest warrant was issued for Cuba Gooding Jr. earlier this week after the actor allegedly assaulted a bartender in New Orleans. But it looks like the Oscar-winner will avoid charges.

According to Access Hollywood, the bartender at Ye Olde Absinthe House has decided to drop the charges.

Carolyn Pierce, the owner of the French Quarter bar, said:

“It is our understanding the employee involved in the alleged altercation has chosen to drop all charges against Mr. Cuba Gooding Jr. While we continue to investigate this matter internally, we are hopeful that this will put an end to the matter.”

A city spokesman also said that the charges would most likely be dropped. Spokesman Ryan Berni said:

“The witness indeed has indicated that she is likely to drop the charges. If she does, and after prosecutors review the evidence, a determination will be made as to whether to dismiss the charges.”

The Inquisitr reported earlier this week that Cuba Gooding Jr., who is currently filming The Butler in New Orleans, was drinking in the French Quarter earlier this week when a few fans started asking him for photographs. The actor became agitated and was asked to leave by the bartender. The bartender claims that Cuba then became violent. Police were called, but the actor left the scene before they arrived.

Gooding Jr.’s publicist, Nancy Kane, said:

“Mr. Gooding, his representative and the New Orleans authorities … are moving swiftly to resolve this misunderstanding.”

A warrant was issued for Cuba’s arrest but according to Access Hollywood the matter will now be resolved without any legal action.
