‘Boardwalk Empire’ Star Kelly MacDonald Pregnant With Second Child

Boardwalk Empire and Brave star Kelly MacDonald revealed that she is expecting another child with husband Dougie Payne.

MacDonald’s child is due in December, and it will be the second time that the couple become parents. The 36-year-old actress and her husband are already parents to 4-year-old Freddie Peter Payne, reports the Christian Post. MacDonald opened up a bit about her life and her family in the September issue of Red, a U.K. publication. “We don’t have a nanny, and Dougie is completely hands-on,” MacDonald said of her husband and son. “I’m actually a tiny bit jealous of their relationship. Freddie is such a daddy’s boy.”

“But Dougie is the most supportive husband, he’s amazing,” continued MacDonald. “The best thing I ever did was bump into him.”

Payne and MacDonald have been married nine years. He is a bassist and back-up vocalist for the Scottish band Travis. MacDonald is best known for her breakout role in Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting, and for playing supporting roles in independent films like Gosford Park, Nanny McPhee, No Country For Old Men, and others. She has a lead role on HBO critical favorite Boardwalk Empire, and most recently portrayed the Scottish princess Merida in Disney/Pixar’s animated hit Brave.

MacDonald says that her husband buys her a new ring to commemorate each new season of Boardwalk Empire, according to TheWest. “We joke that I’m going to end up with an extremely heavy right arm, or lose the use of my third finger on that hand completely,” she says. On the critically acclaimed Prohibition-era show, she portrays Margaret Schroeder, a young Irish widow and mother, who becomes the mistress to Steve Buscemi’s character Enoch “Nucky” Thompson.
