‘Fast And Furious 8’ Cast: Justin Bieber As ‘New Brian O’Conner,’ Cody Walker Joins Franchise

Fast and Furious 8 is reportedly bringing in several new actors to join the cast of the highly anticipated installment, including Justin Bieber and Cody Walker. A new report revealed that the “Love Yourself” singer will be playing Sean Boswell’s (Lucas Black) race buddy.

According to Movie Pilot, apart from Charlize Theron, Cara Delevigne, and Matt Damon, Justin Bieber will also be part of the Fast and Furious 8 cast. Although his role is yet to be confirmed, insiders believed that he will be introduced as Sean’s friend, who is expected to become the “new Brian O’ Conner.”

The outlet further reported that Cody Walker will not be stepping in for his late brother, Paul Walker, in Fast and Furious 8. It is, however, said that Paul’s character will still be in the movie, perhaps in the form of a flashback. Justin Bieber will allegedly play a pivotal role in the franchise. While he will not be able to replace Paul’s Brian O’Conner entirely, the singer is set to play a major role in the next Fast and Furious movie.

As reported by Digital Spy, Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in Fast and Furious, confirmed that he is willing to do three more movies. After Furious 10, the actor revealed that it will be time to move on.

“Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision. They have been like family. I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga.”

As Furious 7 concluded Brian O’Conner’s story, the outlet pointed out that the trilogy will focus on Dom’s team and the challenges they will face. Following the tragic death of Paul Walker, the Fast and Furious writers had to end Brian’s journey in the seventh movie. While his younger brother Cody Walker will no longer act as Brian’s body double, the publication held that he may eventually be part of the cast and get introduced as an entirely new character in Fast and Furious 8.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cody Walker has shown interest in pursuing a career in Hollywood after starring in Furious 7. Paul’s younger brother reportedly wanted to star in other projects apart from the Universal drag-racing franchise.

Speaking to People, Cody said that his brother Paul would have been proud to see Furious 7. While he admitted that he was nervous to see the fans’ reaction, he shared that he was thankful to have been given the opportunity to step up and help.

In other news, Fast and Furious 8 director F. Gary Gray hinted that the eight film will be very much different compared to the others. One of the challenges of creating another movie is keeping the fans interested.

Speaking to Collider, Gray shared that J.J. Adams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been his inspiration for Furious 8. While he wanted to give fans an action packed story, he said that it is also important to dig deeper into the characters’ storylines.

“When you look at someone like J.J. Abrams who gives you the spectacle and great action set pieces but also gives you character and plotting and narrative, I think it’s my job—and my intention—to do both. You amp up everything, you work on the performances, you work on the story, you work on the action; it’s just not one thing.”

Although refusing to reveal more details about Fast and Furious 8, the director shared that the next film is definitely going to be “fresh” and “different.” The addition of the new cast members, particularly Justin Bieber and Cody Walker, is also set to bring in an entirely new flavor to the franchise.

“All I have to say is I’m extremely excited about the direction we’re going in, and we’re really pushing to make sure the audience feels like it’s not more of the same.”
