‘Silicon Valley’: HBO Releases Season 3 Trailer

There’s one big HBO hit set to make a return on April 24, and it goes by the name of Game of Thrones. However, the fantasy drama isn’t the only HBO series returning for a new season on April 24, with HBO already confirming that Season 5 of VEEP, and Season 3 of Silicon Valley will also premiere on that date. Fans of the latter will now be pleased to hear that HBO has released a new trailer for the third season of Silicon Valley, and it contains all of the jest of the tech industry featured in the first two seasons of the sitcom.

Initially premiering in 2014, Silicon Valley focuses on the lives of six young tech enthusiasts who quit their day job to form a small start-up in Silicon Valley. However, the group quickly finds that their idea doesn’t go according to plan, facing a series of trials and tribulations along their journey.

According to WIRED, the third season of Silicon Valley picks up after where the previous season finished and sees Pied Piper in turmoil. The CEO of the tech start-up, Richard Hendricks, played by Thomas Middleditch, has found himself ousted and replaced by a veteran executive with an awful lot more experience. The team initially adapts well to the new leading man of the company, all but Erlich, played by TJ Miller, that is. The eccentric character whom initially put forward funding for the company is displeased of being passed over for the top job. The trailer also provides a series of glimpses of what’s ahead for the company, including a more corporate, or sensible structure.

That being said, those worried that Silicon Valley is adopting a freshly serious approach to the running of a tech start-up will be pleased by a clip at the end of the trailer, showing Erlich riding a unicorn and throwing stacks of cash in the air. It appears that the show’s silliness has remained intact.

As reported by The Verge, when Silicon Valley first debuted in 2014 with an eight-episode run, there was uncertainty over the appeal of the show. It came at a time when every movie and TV production company was attempting to capitalize on increasing curiosity around California’s Silicon Valley. However, when the show was picked up for a second season last year, it quickly began to hold its own, with a complex and at times pretty emotional storyline, one that really allowed us to connect with the show’s characters.

Perhaps part of Silicon Valley‘s success is the fact that it sits comfortably within HBO‘s Spring Sunday evening line-up. As we’ve already mentioned, an awful lot of viewers tune into HBO on Sunday evenings across April, May, and June in order to catch new episodes of Game of Thrones. Directly following those new episodes are also new installments of HBO‘s signature comedies; VEEP and of course, Silicon Valley. VEEP is currently about to debut into its fifth season, alongside the new seasons of Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley on April 24 and with that in mind, comparisons are sure to be drawn between HBO‘s political sitcom following the disastrous Selina Meyer and Silicon Valley.

For those yet to jump on the Silicon Valley bandwagon, the Season 3 trailer features very little in the way of spoilers. With that in mind, you’ve got plenty of time between now and when the new series debuts on April 24 to catch up on the past two seasons of the show.

Whether you’re a drama or comedy fan, Sunday evenings on HBO from April 24 surely aren’t to be missed.
