WWE News: ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin Praises Dean Ambrose, Says Loss To Triple H ‘Elevated Him’

The booking of former WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose is always a major topic of conversation among wrestling fans. Some don’t really like what WWE has done with him ever since The Shield imploded back in 2014. But he still remains one of the top guys in the company despite the fact that he’s constantly losing his big pay-per-view matches.

Ambrose recently challenged Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE’s Roadblock show, and some WWE fans were hopeful that he’d actually come out on top in that match. But we all knew what the result of the match was going to be well in advance, which was Triple H getting the victory and retaining the WWE World Title.

The match between Ambrose and Triple H was fantastic. It once again proved that Ambrose is one of the very best wrestlers that WWE has to offer, and it also proved that Triple H may be the best worker in the entire company at the moment.

WWE legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin had a lot of good things to say about the Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose match at WWE Roadblock on this week’s Steve Austin Show podcast. One of them was that, in his opinion, the loss didn’t hurt Amborse at all. In fact, the “Texas Rattlesnake” thinks the loss elevated him.

“I think he (Ambrose) shined so much as a wrestler, as a performer, that this match got him over more in my eyes than he was before this match and I liked Dean Ambrose to begin with.

“This match elevated Dean Ambrose. Dude, someone who books can argue that point with me, but I stand by the fact that someone had to get beat and the right guy got beat and he got beat in the right way and it’s going to make him stronger and that kid’s got a great future. He did before this match. He really does now. He went out there on a big stage with a top guy and threw down.”

Of course, a win for Ambrose at WWE Roadblock would have elevated him a lot more. But because WWE has been planning Triple H vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32 for quite some time now, an Ambrose win certainly wasn’t going to happen. So, given the situation, Austin is absolutely right, and Ambrose’s performance shined through, despite the result of the match.

There’s a good chance that Ambrose is going to lose yet another pay-per-view match when he gets in the ring with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32. But again, it’ll probably be another situation where Ambrose is elevated because of his performance, because the match between “The Beast” and the “Lunatic Fringe” has all the ingredients it needs to steal the show on April 3.

But you never know, maybe WWE will surprise everyone and decide to have Ambrose defeat Lesnar at AT&T Stadium.

It looks like WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley will be involved in the Lesnar vs. Ambrose match, as he passed along his famous barbwire bat to Ambrose on Monday’s RAW. If Foley does get involved in the match, he’ll likely just be at ringside, because WWE won’t allow him to take any bumps. So don’t expect him to get German Suplexed or F-5’d by Brock Lesnar at some point during the match.

The table is set for Ambrose to have a star-making performance on April 3, and even if his match with Lesnar doesn’t end up stealing the show, it’ll still be one of the most entertaining matches on the entire card.
